Theme 1.0. Previous knowledge. handling of the calculator
To successfully solve astronomical calculations and pass the Yacht Captain exam, it is essential to know how to use the calculator well. The calculator you use must have trigonometric functions and must not be programmable.
This course is conducted using the Casio fx-82SX or Casio fx-82MS calculator.
In this section I explain in detail:
1st. Check that the angle unit is set to DEG.
2nd. Conversion from decimal to sexagesimal.
3rd. Trigonometric functions.

Application: Practice Test
"Practice Test" is the third browser of the main menu. It is a specific application for you to practice taking tests with the official exams.
In the main menu, in:
You click on "Exam Model", and you have a large number of tests with official questions placed in the different ones that allow you to practice for the exam.
If you want to search for a specific exam, for example, those of Valencia, write on the top right in Search, VALENCIA:
And it shows you, the exams that you can take, from that community.
For example, in: VALENCIA-2019-THEORY, you have multiple choice questions that correspond to the 3 exams that were taken in this community in 2019, in April, June and November. You have a total of 30 questions to answer.
Click on the green square:
And then click on:
First, you will be shown 10 questions. When you finish answering them, click on:
And you are shown another 10 questions. When you finish, click NEXT again, and you will be able to answer the last 10 questions.
At the end you must click on:
And you will see the answers that are correct.
Imagine that out of 30 questions, you get this result:
You can see that you have answered 80.00 out of 100.00 points. Since it was a 30-question questionnaire, it means that 80% of 100 are 24, which are the correct questions and 20% of 100, 6 are incorrect questions.
Now you can choose between closing the application or continue taking another exam contained in "Exam Model".
If we go back to the main menu, in Questionnaires:
You have the "Random Questionnaire" submenu, it is a way for you to create your own test questionnaires with the questions that are uploaded to the question bank. This submenu has no use for you, because all the questions that are uploaded to the question bank are already in "Exam Model".
And if we go back to the main menu, in Quizzes, you have the submenu “Questionnaire for Errors”. This submenu is a very interesting tool so that you yourself can see and learn from your mistakes, so as not to make them again.
As a practical example of how you would make a questionnaire for errors yourself, we are going to work with the wrong questions from the questionnaire that we have just done for VALENCIA-2019-THEORY.
To start you click on the green square:
In "NAME OF QUESTIONNAIRE", write: VALENCIA, and you must click on the drop-down:
In: VALENCIA-2019-THEORY.
In "COURSE", you should always click on: Yacht Captain Course (CY).
In "TOPICS", all the exams you have taken in "Exam model" will appear. Look for the Valencia 2019 Theory and click on:
And it shows you that from the questionnaire you have 6 wrong questions.
Now, in "DESCRIPTION", you must write "Theory" and select it.
In this "DESCRIPTION" section, I will tell you in advance that for other questionnaires due to mistakes you make, the other possibilities that you should write are only: Calculations, or English, or Meteorology.
In “LIMIT TIME BETWEEN QUESTIONS”, click No.
And in "NUMBER OF RANDOM QUESTIONS", you select all the wrong questions, which are 6.
You click on:
And it will appear on the screen:
You click on "Accept".
And you have already created your first questionnaire for errors.
It appears, at the bottom:
If you do not want to create another error quiz and want to now try to solve the 6 erroneous questions of the quiz you just created, you must click on the arrow at the top right:
And now it appears, all the questionnaires for errors that you have created:
Click on the green square, , of VALENCIA-2019-THEORY.
And to start answering the questions. You click on START
The rest of the main menu:
"Statistics" is not useful, and "Management" should not be used either.
