We embarked on Monday in the port of Grao de Castellón to carry out the Safety and Navigation practices in a voyage regime, lasting sixteen hours spread over two days.
We leave in the morning and we will carry out the exercises provided for by the legislation to return to sleep in port. We offer you the possibility of sleeping on board at no additional cost. We also give the option of making all meals on board at the cost of acquisition.
The sailing qualification and the expansion journey are made together in a forty-eight hour journey in a triangular route along the north coast of Castellón and the Columbretes Archipelago. We could have chosen a crossing to the Balearic Islands as many others do, but the prevailing winds mean that the outward journey is by motor nine times out of ten, with the return almost always also by motor or in a monotonous route under linear sail with fin winds. There is hardly any time left to learn to sail and conveniently cover the objectives set by the two practices, which are to make a long-term journey and learn to sail.
We will begin the journey in the port of Grao de Castellón, with a detailed review of the logistics for the forty-eight hours of navigation, including supplies. The weather forecasts will be examined and we will plan a route that allows us to sail for as long as possible within the practice requirements. It is about sailing in the greatest number of directions possible in the time available, not about covering sterile miles by motor. Based on such planning, the teams and task shifts will be organized to effectively meet our objectives. We will sleep and eat on board, with a maximum cost of €9 per day.
The content of the program to be covered will be
