HIGH-HEAD AND COASTAL NAVIGATION AND PRACTICES IN A LARGE SAILBOAT: 3 ISLANDS FROM VALENCIA TO IBIZA, FORMENTERA AND COLUMBRETES +250 NM: “Gain experience and grow as a sailor”

Would you like to gain experience and perfect your sailing technique? Do you want to increase your confidence and skill as a skipper or captain? Are you preparing to practice professionally? Do you need to prove days and miles of navigation?

We propose a program where you will learn to navigate more safely and effectively on a journey of more than 250mn, assuming the role of skipper and crew member in different situations and real wind and sea conditions. Whether you are already a skipper, captain or PPER or would like to become one, this journey is for you. Get on board the sailboat! A modern Dufourt 525 Grand Large. A large sailboat, ideal for learning and enjoying with great safety and comfort.

It includes different workshops and real practices to achieve the following learning objectives:

• Government and safety on the sailboat (The boat, the skipper and his crew, the steering position, instrumentation, RIPA, POB, EPIRB, abandonment, logbook, positioning on the chart, control and tasks on board...)

• Night navigation (guards, lights, AIS, Radar...)

• Sailing navigation (sails, controls, maneuvers, headings, crewed and solo trimming...)

• High altitude navigation (planning, meteorology, route, management...)

• Coastal navigation (planning, meteorology, route, dangers, marks and beacons, delays, lines, oppositions, bearings, anchoring, moorings in port and buoy)

• Basic caballería and much more.

BOARDING: At 3:30 p.m. in the Royal Marina of Valencia
DISEMBARKATION: At 5:30 p.m. in the Royal Marina of Valencia

    1ST JOURNEY: VALENCIA-IBIZA (75 MN)

Welcome and boarding at La Marina Real de Valencia at 3:30 p.m. The sailboat is already perfectly stowed and ready to sail, so after settling in, we will get to know the sailboat and we will have a first WORKSHOP ON GOVERNMENT, SECURITY AND NIGHT NAVIGATION, delving into aspects related to government (crew, command post, instrumentation...) and safety (RIPA, POB, EPIRB, abandonment...), especially in night navigation (guards, lights, AIS, Radar...)

Once these objectives have been overcome, we will have a second HIGH NAVIGATION WORKSHOP, where we will analyze the meteorology, plan the route and organize the watches and tasks on board. And finally we will familiarize ourselves in a practical way with the maneuvering of the boat, under sail (sails, controls, trim…) and under engine (wind, main and bow thruster, mooring and mooring release…).

And now that we are well prepared, around 8:00 p.m., we will set sail for the island of Ibiza (114º) to live the experience of a night cruise. We will make navigation guards in shifts, positioning ourselves on the chart and checking the indicators and security elements every 2 hours.

    2ND JOURNEY: IBIZA-FORMENTERA (19MN)

Early in the morning we will leave Conejera about 3 miles to port and going down the west coast of Ibiza (145º) we will pass Es Verdrá on the starboard beam towards Cala Saona where we will practice anchoring in its transparent waters, we will enjoy all the afternoon and after a spectacular sunset, we will spend the night in the good shelter of its cliffs. During this voyage we will have a COASTAL NAVIGATION WORKSHOP (planning, meteorology, route, dangers, marks and buoyage, delays, leading lines, oppositions, bearings...), locating ourselves in a practical way on the chart by means of the bearing compass.

    3RD JOURNEY: FORMENTERA-COLUMBRETES (110NM)

We will raise the mooring early to continue going down the Southwest coast of Formentera towards Cape Barbaria (180º), which we will leave to port to head to Punta Roja (85º) looking for open waters again towards the North of Ibiza (09º) for its eastern slope. After noon, we will leave Tagomago on the port side to start our big board towards the Columbretes Islands (318º). During this voyage we will have a SAILING WORKSHOP to obtain the best performance of the sailboat during our defeat.

    4TH JOURNEY: COLUMBRETES-VALENCIA (54MN)

In the early hours of the morning we will arrive at Illa Grossa, the crater of a submerged volcano, mooring to a buoy for the night, but not before enjoying an incredible starry sky, identifying some of the most important stars for sailors. And very early we will start the last boarding (240º) towards our destination. We will take advantage of the navigation to learn at least 5 basic knots in a last "ROPE WORKSHOP". And finally, after more than 250mn of navigation, we will moor at sunset in the Royal Marina of Valencia. Here we will say goodbye to what will surely have been a great shared experience.

*The proposed program could vary depending on the weather or at the proposal of the group.

For the second time I decided to go with Ignacio and it has been a great success. He did a spectacular sail trimming workshop. Worthy of a short film. He is a reliable skipper, with empathy and adapts to each crew member. Get the times right for training, practice and enjoyment; snacks or rest. Highly recommended.
