Designed by Judel/Vrolijk and built in 2008, our Hanse 540e becomes Cormoran Sailing's flagship. It stands out for its very high freeboard and its beautiful flat deck completely lined in teak. The “e” that accompanies the model number 540, denotes that it is manufactured with fiberglass, hand-laminated, pre-impregnated in Epoxy. This provides a lot of rigidity to the boat and reduces the weight by 20% and rules out the appearance of osmosis. At its launch, the Hanse 540e was an important leap forward, due to its construction system, and for being a pioneer in the incorporation of a stern garage in boats of its length. It fits a bloated auxiliary with its engine, and its door lowers to become a huge bathing platform.
The Hanse 540e has the typical configuration of the German shipyard, a large mainsail and a self-tacking jib that makes it easy for the skipper to maneuver alone. Electric winches and ropes below deck to the wheelhouse make it even easier. However, the ease of navigation does not compromise its performance. It is a mixed Cruise/Regatta boat, with no compromises between the two. It surprisingly takes advantage of light winds, and faces strong ones with poise and stability, offering a great sense of security to the crew. Its stability is guaranteed by a very low center of gravity, to which its 5,800 kg iron and lead daggerboard contributes, with a depth of 2.80 metres.
The cover of the Hanse 540e hides some interesting surprises. The jib furler is hidden below deck, so the sail area starts at gunwale level. The large bathing platform acts as the lid of a huge locker with space to store all the diving equipment, the dinghy, etc. Being almost at sea level, it is very comfortable to store nautical toys.
The Hanse 540e's freeboard is very high, making it a comparatively dry boat in swell, and provides a very respectable interior volume.
Hanse 540e is equipped with all the equipment you would expect from a 54ft sailing yacht. The deck equipment includes bimini top, lowering canopy, electric winches and retractable bow thruster, and huge bow and stern sundeck cushions.
The Hanse 540e does not have a conventional boat interior, the feeling is that of a modern apartment. Of the 70 options that the German shipyard offers for the Hanse 540e model, Mar Infinito has the most versatile in our opinion, offering 4 double cabins with en-suite shower room, and an additional cabin for the skipper, which is accessed directly from the foredeck.
The Hanse 540e's comfort equipment includes generator, watermaker, air conditioning and heating, fridge/freezer for 8 people, and the amenities found on all charter yachts. The Hanse 540e generator allows you to connect all the 220v appliances you use at home, such as a hair dryer, a computer, etc.
Although we can accommodate more people on some of our smaller sailing yachts, the Hanse 540e combines capacity and comfort like no other for up to 8 people.
