What is the Proficiency in Security Awareness course?

The Proficiency in Security Awareness coursee aims to provide training, instruction and competition rules to become aware of aspects related to maritime protection.
When is this certificate required?

The Proficiency in Security Awareness course will be required for all merchant ship crew members who must have the Certificate of Protection of Ships and Port Facilities, and who do not have the Certificate of Ship Protection Officer.
How long is Proficiency in Security Awareness course and what is its content?
This course has the following duration:

6 hours of face-to-face theoretical class.
2 hours of practices with approved instructors.

In this course the following contents will be given:
- Maritime protection and maintenance of the conditions established in a protection plan
- Vessel protection assessment
- Recognition of risks and threats to protection and protection measures
- Performing periodic inspections and recognition of threats to protection
- On-board surveillance
- Use of protective equipment and systems.
To whom is the Proficiency in Security Awareness course directed?

Directed to personnel who must assume specific tasks and responsibilities in the field of protection, in accordance with the provisions of the ship's protection plan.
