Course of Adjustments and Government of Sailing Cruise in Madrid

- Since our beginnings in learning to sail, the fact that for each direction with respect to the wind there is an optimal position of the sails has been a constant.
- In our fourth and last course of the General Cycle we will explore the adjustment techniques to obtain a good cruise performance.
- We will learn to correctly coordinate the sails with the rudder and how to steer the boat in different directions and situations.
- At the beginning, at 1000h, we will define the principles of setting the sails and how to use the different controls to achieve the desired results in the sails.
- We will go out into the water where we will put into practice what we have learned and we will see how we coordinate the rod with the adjustments made.
- From there we will focus on handling the rudder in different circumstances and weather situations.
- At 3:00 p.m. we will pick up the boat and return to the base

- Wind. apparent wind and true wind. The sail force and its components. Advance and decline.
- The placement of the sails. The angle of incidence.
- Jib adjustment. The sheet The scoters. The lanitas. Adjustment procedure in different wind situations.
- Adjustment of the main. Mainsheet. Barraescota or larger cart. Adjustment procedure.
- Adjustment in downwinds. Boom position. The trap.
- The government of the boat. The government and the sails. Steer tight. Govern in bearings. The luffed. The accidental gybe.

I will send the exact location of departure in advance. Upon arrival and on board the necessary explanations for the development of the day will be given and we will go out to the water where we will develop the program.

The course was very good. We had a bit of bad luck with the wind. there was a lot and very gusty. We had to sail with 2 curls due to the wind conditions and we were unable to put the trim concepts into practice due to the weather conditions. In any case highly recommended.
