The origin of the
Route de la Sal regatta dates back to the Second Carlist War in 1846, when the Carlist blocked the city of Barcelona and salt reserves were declining. A businessman raised the challenge of bringing salt from the Pitiusas Islands to several shippers, economically rewarding the first to arrive.
But it was not until 1989, when the route was called
La Ruta de la Sal - Pepe Ferrás Trophy and began to compete annually. It is a
Mediterranean height regatta in which sailing cruisers participate. It is part of the group of sailing competitions with greater participation in the country, being authorized by the autonomous sailing federations of Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community.
The regatta is limited to 175 vessels that obtain their place in strict order of registration. Therefore, if you are interested in participating in the next edition of the Salt Route, find out about the different options proposed by Sailwiz.
