Objectives of this course:

- That the student acquires basic skills related to reporting events that affect protection, including attempts and attacks by pirates or armed robbers.

- Be able to determine the procedures to be followed when a security threat is recognized, and participate in emergency and contingency procedures related to security in accordance with the ISPS Code (code adopted by the IMO, to establish an international framework cooperation to detect threats and adopt preventive measures

- This course identifies the different threats to which both commercial and leisure navigation is subject, among which we will discuss terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking, piracy or illegal fishing. We will also learn about the proposals that the international community has put in place to promote safer maritime navigation and transportation.

    19. Analyze why IUU fishing is a threat to maritime security.

    21. Identify how international law deals with maritime crimes, as well as the role of national legislation.
