In the heart of the western Mediterranean, where the waters narrow between Corsica and Sardinia, offering some of the most fascinating views in Europe, the uncontaminated splendor of the La Maddalena Archipelago is revealed.

Situated off the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, this natural jewel is made up of seven main islands — La Maddalena, Caprera, Santo Stefano, Spargi, Budelli, Santa Maria and Razzoli — and a myriad of islets and rocky outcrops.

Surrounded by the scent of the Mediterranean scrub and largely wild, these lands are home to golden beaches, hidden coves and a sea that shades from turquoise to emerald. Their charm is enhanced by the spectacular granite formations, shaped by centuries of wind and salt into unique and suggestive shapes.

To protect this fragile ecosystem, the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park was established in 1996, one of the most precious marine protected areas in the Mediterranean.

Sailing in these waters means being enchanted by landscapes that seem suspended in time, which have inspired historical figures such as Garibaldi, Nelson and Napoleon. Cala Corsara, on the island of Spargi, is a perfect example: a dream bay where fine sand and crystalline waters meet in perfect harmony. And again, the island of Budelli with its famous Pink Beach, made unique by the particular color donated by the fragments of small marine organisms.

Those who choose this route cannot miss a stop in Bonifacio, on the southern coast of Corsica: the entrance to the port, nestled between high limestone walls that exceed 70 meters, offers one of the most exciting views of the entire trip.

Boarding is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the port of Cannigione. After taking your place in the double cabins with private bathroom, we all meet together in the cockpit for a small welcome refreshment: the perfect moment to start getting to know each other.
The captain will take the opportunity for an initial briefing, during which he will explain the rules of life on board, illustrate the planned itinerary and provide some useful information on the management of the boat.
The evening will be free in Cannigione, where you can enjoy a walk along the seafront or a typical dinner in the village.

The next day we leave early in the morning for a sail towards the island of Caprera or Budelli. We will reach enchanting places such as Cala Coticcio or the Spiaggia Rosa, perfect for the first swim of the holiday.
After lunch, and after relaxing in the sun and sea, we resume sailing towards the island of La Maddalena. The night will be spent at anchor, in one of its protected bays.

After a leisurely breakfast, we set off again, crossing the famous Strait of Bonifacio to reach the island of Cavallo, a corner of unspoiled nature perfect for swimming in turquoise waters.
In the afternoon we continue towards the southern coast of Corsica, where we will spend the night near Rondinara or Santa Amanza, anchored a short distance from splendid beaches.

In the morning there will be time for more swimming and relaxation in this little paradise. After lunch, with the tender you can take a shore excursion to the island of Lavezzi, part of the protected natural park of the Strait of Bonifacio.
In the afternoon we set sail towards Bonifacio: the entrance to the port, dug between walls of white rock over 70 metres high, is one of the most spectacular in the Mediterranean.
Once on land, you can lose yourself in the picturesque streets of the old town, with breathtaking views of the sea. Nearby are also quiet beaches such as Piccolo Sperone, Palombaggia and Santa Giulia. The night is spent in the port.

The navigation continues leaving Bonifacio behind and returning to plough the Straits. We will stop again at Lavezzi for another swim in its clear waters.
Weather permitting, in the afternoon we will move towards Piantarella beach, on Piana Island, to spend the night at anchor.

We return to sailing among the islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, with a stop at Cala Corsara on the island of Spargi, one of the most loved for its wild beauty.
The night is spent at anchor, depending on the wind, near Razzoli or Budelli.

On the last day, after waking up in one of the bays between Razzoli, Santa Maria or Spargi, there will be time for a last swim and lunch on board.
In the afternoon we sail towards Cannigione, where the week of navigation ends. It is possible to disembark in the evening or the following morning by 9.00.

Meet Massimo, the skipper
At Sailwiz since 2025
I have been sailing for passion for almost twenty years, and since I turned this passion into a profession — in 2006 — my bond with the sea has only grown. I love sharing all this with those who come on board: I am a sociable person and I like to convey the enthusiasm I feel for sailing and life at sea.

Boat details

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 54 DS (which stands for deck saloon, or raised deckhouse) is an innovative and elegant boat that combines the needs of cruising with good sailing performance. At first glance, its long waterline, sinuous line, volumes and large spaces both inside and outside are striking. And the way in which the French shipyard has been able to reconcile elegance and comfort with good performance and ease of handling is striking. In the outdoor spaces, the deckhouse is definitely noticeable, resembling a long almond-shaped eye and making the entire profile of the Sun Odyssey 54 DS very sinuous. The characteristic design of the deck is defined by many as "Italian", which in terms of style is definitely a compliment. In the tradition of the Jeanneau shipyard, the cockpit and the entire aft area are designed to be functional and extremely comfortable. The cockpit of the Sun Odyssey 54 DS is divided into three areas: one that houses the two rudders, one around the fold-down table for relaxation and entertainment, one near the entrance below deck for maneuvering the mainsail and jib traveler. At the far stern the platform is wide and makes it easy to get into the water and onto the dock. The style and comfort of the deck are paired with the hull characterized by a long waterline and solid construction. The equipment of the Sun Odyssey 54 DS is well designed for even demanding navigation and for operation with a limited crew. This layout, also characteristic of many other boats from the French shipyard, greatly facilitates the maneuverability of the Sun Odyssey 54 DS. In fact, all the sea trials highlight the ease with which a boat of this size can be maneuvered by two people even in strong wind conditions. Below deck the volumes are large and well exploited. The dinette has the characteristic of being slightly raised with respect to the level of the square and the kitchen, allowing you to enjoy the view from the deckhouse window. The large table and sofas are located to starboard, as is the chart table, while to port are the large, super-accessorised C-shaped kitchen and a seat with a small table.
