Sailing from the Azores Islands to our home port of Baiona, to end our journey through Macaronesia.
This is the fifth and final stage of a longer journey made up of separate stages, along which we will explore true nautical paradises.
You can check out all the stages here on Sailwiz and sign up for one or more:
- Stage 1: from Baiona to Madeira
- Stage 2: from Madeira to the Canary Islands.
- Stage 3: from the Canary Islands to the Azores.
- Stage 4: through the Azores Islands.
We do it during spring, a magnificent time to sail across the Atlantic due to the stable trade winds, long days of light and clear nights, which help to fully enjoy the ocean.
It will be a one-way trip, which we will make on board a 22-meter steel ketch. A spacious, safe and easy-to-handle boat, with capacity for 10 passengers on board, with the possibility of spending the night in comfortable cabins. Below deck there is also a large day area where meals are served and the wheelhouse has comfortable sofas with panoramic views.
The crew consists of an experienced captain and a first officer, both bilingual (English and Spanish at least), so that there is always someone on duty.
On board we will teach (to all those who dare) the profession of navigator, with the possibility of certifying your knowledge with the RYA Competent Crew, Watch Leader and Navigation & Seamaship titles. There will also be classes in astronomical navigation and the possibility of doing the miles necessary for the Yacht Master Offshore, Yacht Master Ocean and PPER titles.
This is a trip for active travelers, we sail together on this boat. No sailing experience is required, but an active and open attitude is. We teach you everything you need to know along the way, from sailing to steering the boat, and you disembark like an old sea dog.
Arriving at port after a long sea voyage is an experience like no other. Try walking upright with those newly acquired sea legs!
