Climb aboard for a week to practice some of the most stressful sailing maneuvers under the close instruction of a professional skipper. With a maximum of 4 other crew members on board, you will get great hands-on practice in tough conditions so you can improve your skills. Become more comfortable navigating a sailboat with a backdrop of the Croatian coastline and enjoy leisure time to explore some of these incredible locations.

This course is built on the basis of the Royal Yachting Association Day Skipper course with extensions we consider important. We explain the theory and give you the opportunity to practice the manoeuvres which cause most problems to new sailors and young skippers. We are eager to share our knowledge and best practices with you. Prepare for a lot of drilling and hands-on practice time.

Course content: mooring, anchoring, mooring at a buoy, manoeuvring in a port, night passage making, navigation, using a spinnaker, trimming sails, possibly heavy weather sailing and the social side of skippering.

Ability after the course: You will be able to moor in calm weather at a pier, dock and buoy. You will be able to setup watches system and keep the log, navigate at night, hoist and use the spinnaker together with the crew. You will learn to be aware of the social dynamics of the group and be prepared to lead it.

Marina Dalmacija, Bibinje-Sukosan 1 street, 23206 Sukosan, Croatia

SUKOSAN
On the first day when you arrive, you will meet your crew, pick up groceries for the week and get a chance to experience Sukosan. This tranquil town is the perfect place to begin getting to know everyone with a nice welcome drink and dinner at a local restaurant.

ZMINJAK
This remote island has just one restaurant and a long pier. This is a great place for us to practice our mooring skills and then our tasting skills! We will practice stern-to, side-to, bow-to, using lazy lines and the anchor.

KONOBA BAIN
This area has many buoys which gives us the perfect opportunity to practice buoy mooring both by sail and on motor. Finish out the day with an amazing sunset and delicious dinner.

KORNATI ARCHIPELAGO
Here with its hundreds of islands, we will practice day navigation. We will work as a team and you can get a chance to take command of the yacht. Work on your skills in delegation, communication and quick decision making while you skipper!

NIGHT SAILING
We will put ourselves a distance from shore one night so we get the chance to experience night sailing! With the help of your skipper, you will divide into shifts and the safety of the rest of the crew will depend on you for a bit. Practice log writing, watch keeping, night navigation and sip a hot beverage to help you through the night.

REMOTE BAY
We can’t know for sure where we will end up because we depend on the wind, but we do know that we will find ourselves in one of the many remote bays. These are good locations for practicing laying landlines and anchoring. Then we will have some time to enjoy our surroundings and go over some theory topics.

UNESCO HERITAGE TOWN
Depending on where the wind takes us, we will stop at one of the historic Croatian cities. Here we will get to sightsee and take in some of the culture as a reward for working so hard the rest of the trip.

Finish out the trip reflecting on the skills learned and miles sailed with your new friends!

Return: Saturday at 9:00

I usually fly solo when traveling, and it never occurred to me to sign up for a package tour. But I took a gamble here and they exceeded my expectations. They have somehow figured out how to get adults to buy into a sincere spirit of group adventure and camaraderie without it ever feeling forced. And obviously, the locations are beautiful, the other people are engaging, the sailing is fun (you'll grow in confidence throughout the week), and it's clear that the Dominick and his team really care about the experience they are creating. You can easily do this trip alone, with friends, or with your significant other. I'm sure I'll sail with them again.

Stop thinking about sailing with them... and just book it. You’ll love it!
Your fellow crew members are a wonderful bunch – and we had the most laid-back skipper ever to roam the Med. The scenery is amazing and varied: you’ll moor-up in a port one night amongst super-yachts then drop anchor the following night in a nearly-deserted bay. You’ll learn so much if you’ve never sailed before, but it’s all really relaxed.
I’m so glad I took the plunge – you will be too.
Maybe see you out there one day soon...

Badly organized trip, old boat not prepared with equipment for the entire crew and unprofessional skipper (untrustworthy, drinking durin the sailing, etc.).
It could have been an excellent week, it's a pity.
