Azores Archipelago - from Horta to Ponta Delgada

The indescribable diversity and beauty of the nine islands in the Azores archipelago, combined with mild temperatures and an excellently equipped yacht, promise us a sailing highlight in a paradisiacal setting.

Favored by the Gulf Stream, plants from all climate zones find ideal conditions, bringing us closer to the idea of a "Garden of Eden." The harmonious combination of vibrant nature and magnificent volcanic landscape makes this sailing trip a special experience.

Cruise planning:

We will make optimal use of the wind and nautical conditions and discover and experience the respective sea area with its special features.

The daily goals are discussed with the crew and then realized together as a team.

Daily legs are usually between 40 and 60 miles. Depending on wind and weather, we'll sail approximately 5-12 hours a day.
At the end of a day of sailing, we will anchor in bays or harbors, and sometimes sail further to experience the sea under the influence of the night with attentive seamanship.
There is also enough time to linger and explore and enjoy the surroundings.

On our 14-day trip, there is also enough time for the country and its people, as well as swimming and snorkeling, etc.

Start: June 1st, 2025 5:00 p.m. Horta - June 14th, 2025 Pomta Delgada 10:00 a.m

Our journey begins in the port of Horta on the island of Faial. We will sail from island to island, taking advantage of the prevailing winds to cross the archipelago from west to east.

In the evening we moor in picturesque harbors or anchor in beautiful bays.

With a little luck, whales and dolphins will accompany us on our journey between the islands of Sao Miguel, Terceira, Graciosa, Sao Jorge, Pico, Faial, and Santa Maria. Each of these Azores islands is unique, with its distinctive topology and unique flora and fauna. It's impossible to escape the fascination of this Robinsonade.

The western island of Santa Maria is rarely visited and is a highlight of this sailing trip.

We will end our cruise after 14 eventful days in the beautiful port of Ponta Delgada, on the island of Sao Miquel.

We're sailing a new Bavaria C51 from 2017. The boat is fully designed for offshore use and approved by the German Employers' Liability Insurance Association. It handles even high waves with ease and impresses with its excellent seakeeping. Comfort and dynamics have been uncompromisingly combined, ensuring a comfortable onboard experience and an intense sailing experience.

Other information

The skipper for this activity speaks german. To participate you must speak one of the languages spoken on board.

Final cleaning:

Typically, the final cleaning of the yacht is carried out by the crew at the end of the cruise. So that you can pack in peace and leave the boat without the hassle of cleaning, I will take care of the final cleaning for you (not valid for cruises in the Azores).

For you, this means a relaxed arrival and a pleasant farewell.

Shopping lists/recipes:
Upon request, I can put together recipes and a shopping list tailored to the number of participants and your culinary preferences. A holiday feeling from the very first minute.

Background/additional information:
If you'd like to take a shore excursion or haven't had time to find out what to expect at our destination port, you'll receive this information on board, and if you have any unanswered questions, I'll be happy to help you research them.

Onboard cash register:
At the start of the trip, each participant pays approximately €100 into the onboard fund. This is used to cover meals, including drinks, fuel, marina fees, gas, and diesel fuel used. (The skipper is exempt from this fee.)

When the deposited money runs low, the crew will top up the money in equal shares. At the end of the trip, the surplus in the onboard cash box is distributed among the participants.

The required amount varies depending on the cost of food in the region visited and your dining needs. Typically, the cost of the onboard cash box is between €80 and €150 per person per week.
