Make the Camino de Santiago in a different way ... Sailing aboard a sailboat!

This itinerary of 6 days and 5 nights, with the option of extending it for one more day, gives us the opportunity to navigate the Atlantic coast of Galicia. We will enjoy the experience of navigating the calm waters of the Vigo, Pontevedra and Arousa estuaries.

On the route from Baiona to Ponteceseures, we will get to know the Rías Baixas and, particularly, exceptional places such as the Atlantic Islands National Park, small fishing villages, historic towns, large cities such as Vigo ... We will pass through the different ports to seal the Camino credential, which will give us the opportunity to obtain the Compostelana at the end of our journey.

On board the ship we can discover the phases of the birth of the Xacobea Route. Everything is born from the transfer of the body of the Apostle Santiago in him from Jerusalem. According to accounts, after the death of Saint James the Greater (one of Jesus' favorite apostles, later beheaded by order of Herod Agrippa), his disciples collected the saint's remains and transferred them in a rudderless boat, guided by God. from Palestine to the Galician coast, where he was buried. On his tomb a mausoleum was built according to the pattern established by the Roman necropolis: a small construction surrounded by columns. His remains are still in the basement of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela

Plan
DAY 0 (Optional day)
- Reception at 09:00 in the Port of Viana do Castelo. We will collect and seal the Camino credential. At 09:30 we will embark to begin navigation. In the Lima river we will use our augmented reality application to enjoy even more of the beautiful landscapes that hang over both slopes, especially the beaches and the Monte de Santa Luzia, where a beautiful temple looms. We will go out to the Atlantic and continue our course along the north coast until we reach the Miño river, making out Caminha, the Island of Insua with the sands of the fort of S.João and A Guarda, a town where the mythical Mount of Santa Tegra is located.
- We will continue sailing through Oia, where we will glimpse the monastery of the town. We will arrive at Silleiro, already entering the Galician estuaries. Our destination will be Baiona, the first continental town to discover the Discovery of America. We will stop here to seal the credential, pay a visit to the city and spend the night.

DAY 1
- We will meet at the Monterreal Yacht Club at 08.50. After that, we will start the navigation enjoying the panoramic view that the Cíes and Monteferro Islands offer us. Thanks to the augmented reality application that we will carry, we will be able to discover the southern coast of the Vigo estuary, including places such as the beaches of Patos, Cañas and Prado, the lighthouse of Cabo Estai, the town of Canido, the island of Toralla .. We will also glimpse the Phoenician remains of the Galician Sea Museum.
- After sealing our credential in the port of Vigo, we will continue navigating the estuary, spotting the Guia mount and the Rande Bridge. We will stop at the Meirande Museum to delve into the history of the Nautilus and its Captain Nemo, in addition to everything related to the battle of Rande. We will go to the port of San Adrián de Cobres, having lunch at a restaurant in the area. We will continue sailing until we disembark on the island of San Simón, a place full of history and beauty.
- We will continue the journey through the north of the estuary, contemplating all the nautical spots in the area, including the town of Moaña with its shellfish areas, its mussel rafts, fishing boats ... Finally, we will enter the Cangas inlet and his fishing village, where we will stop to seal our credentials and spend the night.

DAY 2
- After waking up and having breakfast on land, at about 09:50 we will resume the march from Cabo Balea. We will see the old Whaling ship and the Massó building. We will sail observing the beaches of Areamilla, Limens and Barra, arriving at Cabo Home and its imperial Monte do Facho, where we will see the third most important Celtic fort on the continent. Already in the Cíes Islands, we will first go to the most central island, the island of Monteagudo, which will welcome us with the beautiful beach of Rhodes and Lake dos Nenos. We will disembark for a guided tour, discovering its beauty more closely. We will have lunch in a restaurant.
- After lunch, we will sail along the coast of La Vela, spotting from afar the island of Ons and the Aldán estuary, the only one of the Bajas that faces north. We will arrive in Portonovo, stamping the Camino credential and visiting the city; especially recommended is its "caldeirada de Peixe Raya". We will spend the night here.

DAY 3
- After breakfast, we will start the navigation at 09.50 am heading towards the island of Ons, to contemplate in all its splendor the Terrestrial Maritime National Park of the Atlantic Islands. We will disembark in Ons for a guided tour and taste a typical dish in a restaurant.
- We will continue the journey to San Vincente do Mar, discovering the Lanzada beach and disembarking in port to seal the Compostela. After that, we will continue our journey through the Grove peninsula, approaching the remains of the late Roman site of Adrovello and seeing the ports of Porto Meloxo and Porto Lordelo. We will arrive at the Arousa estuary, through which we will sail passing closely through A Covasa and reaching the beautiful Santa Uxía de Ribeira. We will seal the credential, we will visit the town and we will spend the night.

DAY 4

We will visit the Arousa estuary, spotting unmissable places such as Palmeira beach or the fishing village of Pobra do Caramiñal. We will stop at the port of Boiro to visit the exhibition of fishing gear. We will continue the route by sea appreciating Ribeira and its surroundings. We will arrive at Vilanova de Arousa, land that gave birth to the great Inclán Valley, whose museum we will visit. We will seal the credential, have lunch and take a walk through the sea area.
- We will continue the journey through the island of Cortegada, where the most important laurel forest in Europe is located and the mouth of the Ulla river, the old gateway to Santiago. We will disembark in Vilagarcía de Arousa, a historic town that is also the railway cradle of the region. In addition to sealing the credential, we will have free time to enjoy the entire villa. We will spend the night in the locality.

DAY 5
- Before leaving the sailboat at around 09.50am, we will deliver the luggage to be transferred to our hotel in Santiago.
