Camino de Santiago by sea from Vigo

A unique way to travel the Camino de Santiago is to do it by sea in a sailing boat, as the Apostle Santiago did in his time.

With this journey we present a new officially recognized path to obtain La Compostela. To do this, it is necessary to sail at least 90 nautical miles and get the seal in all ports marked along the route.

We will leave Vigo and arrive at the port of Boiro or Villagarcía in a journey of 3 days- 3 nights (90 nautical miles) where we will be able to navigate through the estuaries of Vigo, Pontevedra and Arousa

Finally and to complete the Camino, you must walk the last 7 kilometers of the Portuguese Way from the town of Milladoiro, stamping in the homonymous chapel and also in the Pilgrim's office once you arrive in Santiago.

Day 1 – We will receive the pilgrims at the Real Club Náutico de Vigo. Depending on the time of arrival, you can settle on the boat, leave your bags on board and take advantage of the day to take a look at the city and get to know its old town, the port area, the main streets... Or, even, It is possible to make a guided route. We will spend the night on board the sailboat moored in the port.

Day 2 – We will begin the Way under sail: We will depart from Vigo and pass through Cangas, through the Cíes Islands National Park and arrive in Baiona, where we will spend the night on board moored in the port.

Day 3 – We will depart from Baiona and sail through the Ons Island National Park or the Aldán estuary at the choice of the pilgrims or where the weather conditions are the most suitable and finally arriving in Portonovo or Combarro to spend the night. We will spend the night on board.

Day 4 – We leave Portonovo or Combarro and go to Sanxenxo or Pedras Negras to put a stamp on our credential, where we will take the opportunity to take a walk and visit the area. Then we will resume our navigation towards the Arousa estuary, where we will have a picnic at anchor either on the Xidoiro Areoso islet or on the Arousa island. We will make a stop in Vilanova de Arousa and finally we will arrive at Cabo de Cruz (Boiro) or in Villagarcía de Arousa, where we will spend the night on board.

Day 5 – We will disembark and a motorboat picks us up at the last port to make the Ascent of the Ulla river “La Traslatio” (approximately one hour of navigation) that will leave us in Pontecesures, just 3 kilometers from Padrón. Here we can choose to walk the last 25 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago (last section of the Portuguese Way) or only the last 7 km, which are mandatory from Milladoiro (we will take a taxi or transfer there, not included in the price).

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (spanish)

- Price for children under 12 years: €900 (sharing cabin with parents). To reserve a place for children under 12 years, you must click on the blue "Book" button and then add the children you want in the section called "Select the extras you want".
- Accommodation on board is in a shared double cabin. If you want to use a single cabin, the rate will increase by €300.
- A minimum of 6 crew members is required to carry out the activity.
- Important: this trip is available all year round, upon request with a minimum group of 6 people and subject to fleet availability.
- You can also suggest dates for your group of friends and family. If you are less than 6 people, we can put you on a smaller boat.
- We have various extras available for crew and luggage transportation. You can ask Sailwiz for rates.
- The port of departure and arrival is from the Real Club Náutico de Vigo.
- You can add extras to the route (shuttle service from/to the airport, luggage transfer, accompanying guide, hotels).
- The route and schedule may be subject to changes due to weather or safety reasons based on the experience of the crew. This decision will be made by the skipper.
- Groups on board are a maximum of 8 people plus the skipper.

WHAT THE PRICE PER PLACE INCLUDES:
- 4 nights accommodation on board the sailboat.
- Fitted sheets and pillows in the cabins. You will need to bring a sleeping bag!
- Skipper (the skipper acts as a guide on board, on land the route is free).
- Half-board on board the sailboat (breakfast and lunch).
- Snacks (nuts, fruit) and water on board. Meals on board are snack-based. Alcoholic beverages are not included.
- Moorings in ports.
- Entry permit to the Cíes and Ons Islands (Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia).
- Occupant insurance.
- Pilgrim's credential.

Once you dock each afternoon at the corresponding port, the skipper will help you with whatever you need to get to know the town, restaurants... But it is not a guided tour on land. Once in port, the tour is free.

Dinners are free, you can choose to go out to a restaurant, since we always sleep docked in port, or you can use the kitchen.

This activity is tailor-made for private groups. You can get your credentials stamped at marinas, restaurants, bars, or any other point where you stop.

You can rent your sailboat exclusively and make the trip your way on the date that suits you best. You just have to check the price and availability of the boat. We will provide you with the entire route and instructions. You can even do it without a skipper and take the boat yourself if you have a license.

If you choose the full boat option with skipper: WHAT IS INCLUDED IS THE FOLLOWING:
- 4 days accommodation on board (includes sheets and pillows, you can bring sleeping bags or hire a duvet and body towel per person for €40 per cabin).
- Skipper (acts as guide on board).
- Fuel (for the entire route and the return of the ship from the last port to Vigo - home port).
- Moorings in all ports.
