In 1995, he began working as a charter skipper in South America with his own 54-foot steel sloop. He sails approximately 15,000 nautical miles per year, mostly in Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn, Antarctica, South Georgia, the Falkland Islands, and in Brazilian waters during the Australian winter.
