CHAPTER. DALMATIA
Sometimes a journey doesn't begin with a plan,
but with a moment.
A warm morning in Trogir.
The streets of the old city are still in shadow, while the first mooring lines are being cast off in the harbor.
The sea is already glittering in the early light.
Dalmatia is a mosaic of islands.
Hvar, Vis, Brač – names that evoke images of sun, stone and sea.
In between are bays that can only be reached by water.
We sail short legs along the coast.
The wind carries us from island to island,
from one small port to the next.
In the afternoon, the anchor is dropped in a quiet bay.
The water is warm, the boat is lying still, and the day is slowly losing its pace.
In the evening we sit in the cockpit.
The sun slowly sinks into the sea over the islands.
Dalmatia knows a thing or two about long evenings.
POSSIBLE DRAMATURGY.
The long summer of Dalmatia
8 days among islands, bays and small harbors
Dalmatia in September is a gift for sailors.
The water is still warm, the days are clear, and the large fleets have long since moved on.
The islands lie still in the sea once more.
You don't sail far.
You're sailing properly.
Day 1 — Arrival in Trogir
Reception at the quay in the old town of Trogir.
The stone streets are steeped in history, yet everything seems calm and serene.
In the evening, the first pre-trip briefing takes place in the cockpit.
The nautical chart is lying on the table.
The line of events for the next few days slowly winds its way through the islands.
Day 2 — Blue Lagoon, Drvenik Island
A short trip out of the harbor.
The sails are filling for the first time.
The destination is the Blue Lagoon of Drvenik Veli.
We anchored at midday in the turquoise water.
Swimming, the first swim of the trip.
In the evening, a small konoba on the island.
Day 3 — Šolta Island
The wind usually picks up in the afternoon.
Perfect for a peaceful sailing trip to Maslinica on Šolta.
A small harbor, palm trees on the quay.
Dinner by the water in the evening.
The sun is slowly disappearing behind the Adriatic Sea.
Day 4 — Vis
Today the sea opens up a little further.
A longer leg to Vis, one of the most authentic islands in Dalmatia.
The harbor lies sheltered between hills.
The atmosphere is calm, almost timeless.
Dinner in an old fisherman's konoba.
Day 5 — Komiža and the Blue Cave
Short drive along the island to Komiža.
A port like from another era.
Small fishing boats, old houses.
Optional excursion to the Blue Cave of Biševo.
Perhaps a glass of wine on the quay in the evening.
Day 6 — Island of Hvar
Sailing to Hvar Town.
The fortress can be seen from afar, overlooking the harbor.
Yachts lie close together, but above everything there is this special light.
Those who wish can go up to the fortress.
The view across the islands is spectacular.
Day 7 — Pakleni Islands Bay
No city today.
Just islands, pine trees and clear water.
The Pakleni Islands lie off Hvar like small green dots in the sea.
Perfect for swimming and anchoring.
Dinner together on board in the evening.
Perhaps a short walk on the beach.
Day 8 — Return to Trogir
Final sailing leg along the coast.
The islands glide past once more.
The port of Trogir slowly comes back into view.
Linen tight.
Engine off.
A chapter ends.
