This mileage cruise is perfect for sailors looking to expand their ocean sailing experience. We'll sail approximately 900 nautical miles, offering both relaxed times to enjoy the Atlantic atmosphere and more active sailing periods where you can deepen your knowledge. The cruise is suitable for sailors with basic skills – beginners are welcome by prior arrangement.

Spring offers ideal conditions for North Atlantic crossings: This leg takes us from the Azores, in the heart of the North Atlantic, to Lisbon in one long stretch. After resupply and a shore excursion on São Miguel, we set a direct course for the Portuguese mainland – true bluewater sailing over long legs, with navigation, night watches, and shared onboard routines. The northern route is known for its fresh westerly and northwesterly winds, ocean fauna, and a unique sense of vastness.

Plan

Our adventure begins in spring in Ponta Delgada on São Miguel, the main island of the Azores. After boarding, a thorough safety briefing, and provisioning together, we use the time to get to know the crew and prepare the ship for the ocean leg. Once everything is ready, we set course for Lisbon. Around 900 nautical miles of the open North Atlantic lie ahead: We navigate through shifting winds, work in a watch system, trim sails, monitor the weather, cook together, and bond as a crew. After making landfall on the Portuguese coast, the leg ends in the port of Lisbon.

For those collecting miles for their next sailing license: Since we'll be covering around 900 nautical miles of the open North Atlantic in one go on this trip, you'll rack up a considerable number of nautical miles. Of course, we'll issue you an official mileage certificate at the end of the trip.

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (english and german)

+ Onboard expenses (food, diesel, final cleaning, etc.): approx. €250 per week and person. There are hardly any port fees on the Atlantic crossing (few ports), therefore the onboard expenses are lower than in the Mediterranean.

Our yacht, a Hanse, stands for a comfortable and outstanding experience. It gives you a feeling of spaciousness, a calm atmosphere and offers the freedom you need for your activities. Nevertheless, it is fast, sporty and has great sailing performance. It was designed by Volvo Ocean Race Designers and is the fastest yacht in its class.

The large cockpit offers enough space for pleasant get-togethers and long conversations with a breathtaking panoramic view. On the sun deck you can be alone, take the time to read a book or enjoy the nature around you. The skipper's cabin has its own entrance. Even if you are supported by a professional crew, you still have your privacy.

The yacht is a modern Hanse 575. It has 4 double cabins and a cabin for the skipper. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Starlink, multi media, air conditioning, generator, 230 V in all cabins and Nespresso coffee machine. Solar panels, radar, AIS, watermaker, washing machine, bathing platform and a dinghy with an electrically powered outboard motor. Comprehensive safety and navigation equipment as well as many other equipment that you need to be self-sufficient.
