Cross the Atlantic back from the Caribbean, from Bermuda to the Azores.

Late spring is the ideal time to return from the Caribbean to Europe, chosen by most ocean sailors. On this stretch, we will sail from Bermuda to Horta, in the Azores Islands, for one of the most complete and varied voyages that can be made in the Atlantic: medium-level sailing, pleasant weather and changing conditions that guarantee an unparalleled training experience.

Along the way we will encounter different weather scenarios, which will require tactics, course changes and decision-making. In short, a perfect journey to gain real experience in ocean navigation.

This route combines technical training and personal enjoyment. It will allow you to live a unique experience while accumulating miles and developing essential skills on the high seas.

Our ship is a 70-foot steel ketch with 5 cabins, designed by the prestigious naval architect Germán Frers. It was designed to go around the world: solid, safe, comfortable and easy to use, making it easier for the entire crew to participate actively. With more than 40 Atlantic crossings behind it, it stands out for the trust it transmits in any situation.

On board you will have instructors certified by the RYA, who will guide you in real practices 24/7. You'll learn everything from ship maintenance and management to route planning, crew safety and life on board. We'll move from theory to practice, learning every mile traveled.

Our goal is that, at the end of the journey, you have the confidence and skills necessary to carry out this type of navigation autonomously and safely in the future.

We will travel a large number of miles, organize guards and study the influence of meteorology and orography on navigation. It is an ideal experience for those who need to earn miles for RYA qualifications, such as Yachtmaster, or Professional Yacht Patron (PPER).

In addition, being an RYA Training Center, we offer the possibility of carrying out on-board courses, such as:

- RYA Watch Leader*.

- Essential Navigation & Seamanship*.

Plan

Boarding: starting at 10:00 on the day of departure in Bermuda, Hamilton Island (we still recommend boarding the day before departure).

Disembarkation: from 15:00 on the last day in Horta (Faial Island, Azores).

Type of navigation: Ocean formation.

The first full day we will conduct a full safety briefing with on-board practices in the use of material, safety protocols, MOB, hazards and precautions on board, description of the lifestyle on board.

After the briefing, we set sail for our destination and took the rest of this day in stride to integrate into the ocean routine and get acclimated to the ship.

Starting on the third day, we started the training mentioned in the previous section to our destination.

While we are ocean sailing, our energy reserve is low. Therefore, learning will take place in short blocks and in a relaxed environment. Every day, independently, meteorological analysis will be carried out as a team, a review of critical points of the ship, trimming and rotating management of the ship.

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (english, portuguese and spanish)

The price includes: Accommodation on board with its own bunk bed and storage area, skipper and first officer, pre-sail training with ocean safety course prior to sailing.

The price does not include: Transfer to the port of departure, food and drinks ashore, cash on board, 50€ per person per day (to cover fuel, berths and full board on board).

Boat details

70-foot steel ocean sailboat equipped with ketch and designed by German Frers, one of the most prestigious naval designers of all time. The boat is a commission for his brother, who wanted a boat to sail around the world easily, comfortably and safely.

The boat is in perfect sailing condition, it has received different refits throughout its history, the last of which in 2024 in which the entire electrical system and wiring of the boat were changed. Complete with main engine and generator, autopilot, mats, sails, fixed and mobile rigs, etc... the boat was dry for 12 months for this refit and was prepared for ocean sailing school.

The crew is comprised of 2 experienced RYA instructors so that one is always on call.

Our instructors have a lot of experience not only sailing but also teaching, they are patient, technical and sensitive to the different characters that may be on board.

Boat equipment: Unlimited oceanic Zone 1 with all the safety measures recommended by MCA and RYA.
