El certificado de Buques de Pasaje tendrá una validez de 5 años. Certificado que es otorgado por la Dirección General de la Marina Mercante (DGMM)

El reconocimiento internacional que tiene es STCW (Convenio Internacional sobre normas de Formación, Titulación y Guardia para la Gente de Mar)

Requisitos para ejercer:
- Certificado del curso de Formación Básica en Seguridad Marítima
- Realizar un curso presencial de 24 horas de teoría. (5 horas en caso de actualización)
- Realizar unas prácticas de 8 horas de duración con instrutores homologados. (3 horas en caso de actualización)
