Course to obtain your navigation license in Motril

Get your navigation license in an official recreational nautical school approved by the autonomous community of Andalusia.

The Navigation License allows the government of recreational boats of up to 6 meters in length with the appropriate motor power to it, provided that the boat does not move more than 2 miles, in any direction, from the port, marina or place of warm and in daytime navigation only.

In addition, you can handle any type of jet ski (without power limit) as established by Royal Decree 238/2019.

Plan

Duration of the course: 2 hours of theory will be taught at the Motril Yacht Club and 4 hours of practice on the boat. The license will be issued when the course ends.

During the two hours of theory we will follow the following agenda:

- Denominations of the case and concept of sealing
- Structure: case, keel, stem, sill, frames, beams, etc.
- Anchoring equipment anchors: plow and danforth
- Dimensions: concepts such as maximum length, maximum beam etc ...
- Windward and Leeward
- Mooring Elements
- Anchoring: Choice of the landowner, scandal, anchor length
- Low visibility: precautions in navigation with fog
- Radar reflector and safety material on board (zone 6)
- Man overboard: prevention to avoid it, safety harness, lighting etc
- Port police regulations
- Limitations on navigation on beaches and international regulations to prevent boardings at sea
- Radiocommunications

In the four hours of practices we will tackle the following:

- Security and checks before going out to sea
- Motors and electrical installation
- Cabuyeria
- Maneuvers
- Anchoring
- Safety maneuvers

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (spanish)

Requirements:
Minimum age: 18 years or 16 with parental permission.
ID photocopy.
Psychotechnical certificate attesting that it meets the psychophysical conditions for the pleasure boat government, according to Royal Decree 875/2014 of October 10.
