From Malta to Sicily – sailing week to Catania

From Valletta we sail across the Strait of Malta to Sicily, reaching Catania at the foot of Mount Etna.

Welcome aboard our sailing yacht in the Mediterranean. We sail on a fine yacht of just under 14m in length, with 3 double cabins and one bunk bed cabin, and extensive amenities, making life on board truly special.

Whether cruising along beautiful bays over short distances, across the open sea, or sailing day and night, there's something for everyone. Our destinations include the idyllic Aeolian Islands, Malta, Mallorca, Sardinia, Sicily, or exciting spots along the mainland coast. Come aboard and enjoy the carefree life.

Everyone on board is part of the crew, can operate the sails, participate in navigation, and is fully integrated into daily life on board.

Together, we decide which shore excursions to undertake and whether to visit a restaurant or cook on board. The exact times and route are determined on-site based on wind and weather conditions.

There are also sailing trips, but others do those; we don't. With us, we sail, and everyone on board sails along. We are sailing from the Lefkada Islands to Malta, in one long leg through days and night.

Everyone on board is part of the crew: We sail together, everyone takes a turn at the helm, sets the sails, and helps with docking, cooking, and navigation. No prior experience is necessary. There are also sailing trips where you are a guest and are waited on – others do that, but not us.

Sailing will take place on a Bavaria 46C, which is just under 14 m long and has three double cabins and one bunk bed cabin.

The yacht will be sailing in the Mediterranean from December 2026 to October 2027: around Malta and Sicily, to the Aeolian Islands, Lefkada, Sardinia, Corsica, Naples and Rome, as well as along the Spanish coast from Ibiza via Málaga to Barcelona. You can join us for one or more weeks of sailing.

Other information

The skipper for this activity speaks english and german. To participate you must speak one of the languages spoken on board.

plus travel expenses and onboard kitty (approx. €150–250 per person per week)
The final cleaning and washing of the bed linen will be done by the crew.

A great sailing and water sports school. I obtained my SBF-See, SBF-Binnen/Segel and UBI/SRC here. Friendly, patient trainers who use their experience and skills to get you to the required exam level. Despite the training, there is still plenty of fun and they take the time to respond to special requests/concerns. I would love to come back here to broaden my maritime horizons.

The theory compact course (in my case SBF Inland) is really very good and prepares you ideally for the exam and beyond.
I also really liked the friendly trainers during the practical training sessions. This meant I was able to pass both exams straight away.

Very good preparation for the exam and future sailing experiences. You can see that all the trainers are very passionate about what they do.
There are always reports of experiences and additional theoretical background on all exam-relevant topics, so that you feel very well prepared the first time you are alone on the boat.

I just did my SBF inland sailing/motor here.
Great people, pleasant atmosphere. The teachers are easy-going, but still competent and can show you what is important when sailing.
If you don't feel completely confident with certain maneuvers, just ask. There is no rigid curriculum that has to be followed. You can decide for yourself where you need more practice.
As you gain experience, you will spend some time on board with just other students. This helps you to feel responsible for the boat and the maneuvers and to coordinate with the other students. But don't worry, a boat with a teacher is always nearby if something goes wrong or you have any questions.
