Astronomical navigation course in Madrid

Learn to orient yourself with the help of the sextant without leaving Madrid.

In six sessions of four hours, we will see the fundamentals of astronomical navigation, coordinate systems, height lines and meridians.

Then we will do exercises to observe the stars and calculate heights with a sextant from places with good visibility and with a horizon in the surroundings of the San Juan reservoir. With the data obtained, the typing techniques with various types of stars will be exposed and we will solve with the data taken by us.

Other information

This course is taught in spanish. You must have a sufficient level of this language to be able to follow the course.

Theoretical presentations will be made in the classroom or by telematic means in real time, at the choice of the students.
When we are free after these sessions and our exercises at home, we will go out to sea on a route (not included in price) in which we will test our ability to guide ourselves without electronics.
