Regatta Workshop in Vigo

The workshop is focused on people with some nautical experience of all levels, with or without qualifications, who want to learn to manage a cruising sailboat while feeling the excitement of competing in real regatta situations in a close and safe environment.

We will study racing strategy and tactics in depth and practice all specific racing maneuvers, starts, windward/leeward buoy turns.

We will see how to trim the sailboat to obtain its greatest efficiency, how to use the regatta regulations in our favor and we will compete between the two sailboats in real regattas with a field and regatta officer who will record us every day to review and correct errors and repeat things we have done. done well.

We will use full-batten larger, headsails and Symmetrical Spi in each of the two Elan 37s, one more technical dedicated to national regattas and the other with more comfort. The students will rotate between the two boats.

Plan

Arrival at the hotel on Wednesday. Beginning of the workshop on Thursday.

Program from Thursday to Sunday:
9:30 - 10:30 a.m.: Theoretical-tactical briefing in the classroom and viewing of practical videos.
10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.: Maneuvering practices, trimming, tactics, starts, buoy turns, etc.
1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Lunch with picnic at anchor or sailing.
2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: 3 - 4 regattas in the buoy field with markers and procedure. Also some coastal regatta to the Cíes Islands.

End of the workshop on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Other information

A minimum of 4 registered students is required to carry out the workshop.

There is the possibility of taking a Hotel and breakfast + dinner ashore package that includes:
· 4 nights (Wed.-Sat.) at Hotel del Mar, Vigo. (Double room to share)
· 4x continental breakfast at the hotel, 3x lunch-picnic on board
· 3x dinner at a Vigo seafront restaurant (closed menu)
