Mile trip - 3rd stage Catania to Caligari approx. 400nm

Mile trip 3rd stage: Catania Sicily to Cagliari Sardinia.
Out of the Adriatic, through the Ionian Sea, the Strait of Messina between the Aeolian Islands and the north coast of Sicily to southern Sardinia. From Sardinia towards the Balearic Islands, where we also want to spend a week “sailing and climbing” on Mallorca at the end of September. We continue via Ibiza to the Spanish mainland to Alicante. Then to Almeria and along the Andalusian Mediterranean coast to Gibraltar. From Gibraltar we then go on a 2 week trip to the Canary Islands, where from the island of Gran Canaria we sail with the ARC+ regatta via Cape Verde to the Caribbean and arrive in Grenada at the beginning of December. In the Caribbean we will sail in leisurely stages until the end of March 2025 and then via the Azores back into the Adriatic to Vrsar.

Plan

With lots of nautical miles, you will learn about the special circumstances of a long-distance voyage and how to safely handle a yacht equipped for long-distance voyages.

This includes:

• Comprehensive safety briefing
• Guard system with night trips, two night trips are planned
• Evaluating weather reports and weather routing
• Correct reefing in bad weather
• Correct use of sails (genoa, spinnaker, genaker, Code Zero)
• Working with chartplotter, AIS, radar, Navtex
• Provision for long journeys
• Cooking on board during the journey
• Energy management on board during long journeys
• Safe anchoring
There will also be opportunities for shore excursions and swimming stops.

We sail the stages with a maximum of 6 people including skipper in 4 double cabins.
