Daily sailing routines will be characterized by watch assignments and continuous night passages. Every crew member will be actively involved in trip planning, navigation, weather observation, and ship handling. This trip is aimed at anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of offshore sailing, accumulate sea miles for the SKS/SSS certificate, or simply seek the challenge of a long ocean passage. Onboard training is the primary focus.
In late autumn, we sail in a challenging area. Crossing the Bay of Biscay requires careful trip planning and waiting for a suitable weather window. We will be prepared for prevailing westerly winds. Further south, towards the Azores, conditions may become milder. With a bit of luck, we might be accompanied by dolphins or even whales on this leg.
The Beneteau 43 is a proven and seaworthy yacht. With multiple cabins and bathrooms, it offers ample comfort for extended voyages. Its sailing performance and comprehensive safety equipment make it the ideal yacht for demanding offshore passages.
In autumn 2026, we're sailing from Greifswald on the Baltic Sea to the Canary Islands to spend the winter there – and we're looking for motivated crew members who are keen to experience long-distance sailing, the watch system, life on board, and planning offshore voyages firsthand, for one to seven weeks. We'll be sailing on a well-equipped, modern 43-foot yacht. The skipper is an experienced instructor and will gladly teach you everything you need to know to skipper safely yourself. These trips are ideal for gaining valuable miles.
The entire voyage will be approximately 3,000 nautical miles long and will last 7 weeks. We will sail in one- to two-week legs, covering between 200 and 1,200 nautical miles depending on the sea area. Each leg will take us to a pre-arranged port for crew changes. We will be sailing on a modern, seaworthy Beneteau 43 with four cabins.
The route
The individual legs are perfect for racking up miles. We'll make long runs and take advantage of good weather windows to sail at night. Even so, there's still plenty of time for weather-related buffers and occasional stops in beautiful bays or interesting harbors.
