Come aboard with us to spend the June 2nd long weekend with your friends or family. The Gulf of Poets, in addition to its beautiful landscapes, offers a perfect marine environment for sailing: the protected sea area within the Gulf is extensive, and sailing is permitted even in the large harbor.
The wind, especially in the afternoon, is almost always present. In short, an ideal place for sailing, but also a place to enjoy the bays, the sun, and the sea.

This cruise will introduce you to sailing. You'll be an active member of the crew, practicing at the helm and learning to handle the sails. If you're already experienced, the instructor will guide you in perfecting your skills.

We are an amateur sports club. Our goal is to help you discover the art of sailing, learn to sail while having fun, and always respect our sea.
Our association's activities are guided by the ethical values that underpin our daily actions: we navigate according to the principles of respect for the environment and responsibility towards nature, our primary fuel is wind and our energy is solar.

To board with us, you'll need to become a member of the association and present a medical certificate for non-competitive sports.

A shared fund will be set up on board for guests to cover food, port expenses, and fuel. We will separate waste and refrain from using disposable tableware.

The program we have designed will allow you to enjoy the splendid landscape of the Gulf of La Spezia and the Cinque Terre.
We will embark on Friday evening at 6:00 pm in Fezzano di Porto Venere (SP) to get familiar with the boat and the sea.

After boarding and settling into their cabins, the skipper will give a short briefing on life on board and safety equipment, then guests will sort out the galley and go shopping together.

On Saturday morning, we'll set sail to admire Portovenere from the sea, with the ancient church of San Lorenzo, the Doria Castle, and Byron's Cave. We'll then visit the island of Palmaria, with its beautiful coves, the islets of Tino, and Tinetto. In the evening, we'll anchor in the channel opposite Portovenere to admire its beauty, even at night.

The next morning, we'll head north and sail along the Cinque Terre, which we'll reach in about three hours. In Vernazza, we can disembark on Tonino da Vernazza's traditional Ligurian gozzo (he'll pick us up on board and take us ashore), while in Monterosso, we can anchor overnight and go ashore on the service dinghy.
On Monday, weather permitting, we'll be able to reach Sestri Levante, where we can dock to visit the town (or go ashore in the dinghy).
On Tuesday we will set sail again to sail back home.
Disembarkation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2nd, around 5:00 PM.

Other information
All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (italian)

In addition to the participation fee, upon boarding you will be asked to sign the application form for membership in the sports association and pay a 15 euro membership fee per person (which includes sports insurance).

On board, the galley (i.e., meal preparation) is managed by the cruise group: upon boarding, the group will decide on the menus, create a shared budget, and go shopping. Once on board, the participants will take turns cooking and cleaning. The skipper instructor eats with the group, but is excluded from these duties and the shared budget.

Cabin space is limited, so there won't be room for hard-sided suitcases or trolleys (which are too bulky even when empty).
In the cabin you will find a blanket and pillows, remember to bring a pillowcase and a sheet or "sleeping bag" (depending on the season).
You will need a pair of clean, non-slip, white-soled shoes (such as soft moccasins or canvas tennis shoes) that you will wear only on board (while sailing and maneuvering) and a pair for going ashore.
There are marine-type shampoos on the market (also suitable for body washes). They work very well even with sea water alone and are completely biodegradable and non-polluting. They are generally found in sports shops, in the nautical equipment section. They are highly recommended.
Mobile phones on board can only be charged with a USB plug.
IMPORTANT: Suntan oil is not allowed on board because it permanently stains the wood and greases the deck, making it dangerous. Bring sunscreen (not spray-on, to avoid spraying the entire deck while sailing).

Meet Alessando, the skipper
At Sailwiz since 2025
I'm from Trieste, and I love the sea and sailing. I believe that water is the primary element of life, and that respecting it, and the world around us, is our duty. A sailboat moves with the wind, doesn't pollute, and lets us feel the power of nature.

Boat details

With this design the designer inaugurated a trend in pure cruising boats towards better sailing performance, while maintaining great habitability.
The hull is common to the "Sun Fast 37" sailing boat (which is the racing/cruising version for sporty owners).
It's a seaworthy vessel, easy to handle and comfortable. It's easy to maneuver even with a small crew.
It is complete with all the amenities that can make the cruise pleasant.
The deck features sunbathing areas, a comfortable cockpit equipped with a bimini and awning (which provides protection from the sun and wind) and a particularly spacious and well-equipped swimming platform.
It has a large kitchen with hob, oven and fridge with freezer compartment and sink.
The vessel is equipped with a tender (to reach the port or the beach even when we stop at anchor in the roadstead) with an extremely quiet, eco-friendly and efficient electric motor.
To increase electric autonomy, Vaga Mente is equipped with a high-efficiency photovoltaic system with 240W solar panels.
