El sistema mundial de socorro y salvamento marítimo (SMSSM), contempla dos títulos que habilitan al tripulante a ser el responsable de las comunicaciones a bordo. Estos tripulantes son patrones u oficiales de navegación.
El curso superior es el operador general del sistema mundial de socorro y salvamento, que tendrán que poseer aquellos encargados que naveguen en cualquier zona de navegación.
Este curso se realiza de manera presencial en Málaga para aquellos que posean el título de Operador Restringido y quieran obtener el de Operador General.

Plan
Duración de 80 horas (30 teóricas y 50 prácticas), en el que el alumno adquirirá conocimientos mas relevantes par navegaciones que van a realizarse mas alejadas de la costa, como por ejemplo:
-Conocer el uso del sistema INMARSAT
-Equipos generales de los sistemas NBDP y RADIOTELEX
-Disposición y mantenimiento en antenas
Entre otros temas también relevantes.
