Suggested itinerary:
Day 1: Barcelona → Mallorca (Andratx or South Mallorca).
Departure from Barcelona at 17:00 hours.
Approximate distance to Mallorca (for reference): the Barcelona → Ibiza route is estimated at ~140 min. If you stop in Mallorca earlier, it depends on the port of arrival.
Objective of the day: cross to Mallorca, anchor in San Telmo or enter the port to rest.
Suggested anchorage/port: Puerto de Andratx (or some safe port in the southwest of Mallorca) to be well located for the next day.
Day 2: Andratx → Dragonera Island.
Coastal navigation to Dragonera Island, which is in the southwest of Mallorca.
Visit Dragonera Island: it is a protected natural area.
Suggested mooring: close to the island, with care for protected areas.
Take the
opportunity to explore, snorkel or explore the island's nature.
Overnight: in the bay near Dragonera or continue to a coastal port if you want less free anchorage.
Day 3: Dragonera Island → Ibiza (Tagomago).
Early departure for Ibiza.
Approximate distance: Dragonera Island → Ibiza ~46 MN. From Dragonera Island (or its nearby coastline) to Ibiza it may be smaller, but it's still a significant stretch.
Arrival to Ibiza in the afternoon/evening.
Suggested mooring or port: Santa Eulalia or Ibiza (or any port depending on availability).
Day 4: Day of relaxation and enjoyment in Ibiza.
Day to explore the island: beaches, coves, local life.
Sailing break, prepare for the final stretch to Formentera the next day.
Day 5: Ibiza → Formentera.
Good morning departure to Formentera.
Relatively smaller distance (between islands) but important to consider the Los Freus strait between Ibiza and Formentera, which can present difficult currents and winds.
Arrival to Formentera, anchorage or port according to plan: areas such as Ses Illetes are spectacular.
Day 6-7: Stay in Formentera and return (optional).
Days to enjoy Formentera: beaches, anchorages, snorkeling, etc.
If you want to return to Barcelona or do another leg back, plan according to conditions.
Summary of estimated distances
- Barcelona → Ibiza: ~140-151 MN.
- Adding the stopover in Mallorca/Dragonera will increase the overall total.
Keep in mind that the actual speed, the specific course and the stops will change the total.
Permits, precautions and recommendations
- We will check what anchorages are allowed in protected areas (such as Dragonera Island) and if permission is necessary.
- We will check weather reports: in the Balearic Islands there can be a thermal SE wind in summer and there may also be westerly or greal winds that make crossings difficult.
- We will be attentive to maritime traffic, ferries and commercial navigation areas, especially when leaving Barcelona.
- We will ensure that night sailing is well planned if it is done for a long stretch. Two guards on deck and change every two hours.
- Security plan: equipment, communication, port alternatives.
