**Escape the winter – two weeks sailing from Martinique to the Grenadines**
The first thing you hear in the morning is the gentle lapping of the waves against the hulls. A warm breeze blows through the hatch, and outside the turquoise water sparkles. Even before breakfast, you jump from the swim platform into the crystal-clear sea. Afterwards, fresh coffee, a comfortable spot in the cockpit, and the anticipation of a new day await you.
We leave the European winter behind and take two weeks to explore the Lesser Antilles. From Martinique, we sail south – past the green mountains of St. Lucia and the coasts of St. Vincent. Our destination: the idyllic islands of the Grenadines.
Sailing is as much a part of the holiday as arriving. We feel the trade winds in the sails, keep an eye out for the next island, and enjoy the hours on the water. At anchor, there's time for swimming, snorkeling, and exploring – or simply relaxing on deck with a book.
And later? Barefoot in the warm sand, the faint sound of reggae drifting from a beach bar, ice cubes clinking in a glass. A fruity rum punch, a piña colada, or a non-alcoholic cocktail with lime and pineapple – accompanied by a view of our yacht bobbing peacefully in the bay. This is what an evening in the Caribbean tastes like.
**Tobago Cays – Dive into Turquoise**
Small islands, bright sandy beaches, and a sea whose colors are almost indescribable: The Tobago Cays are among the highlights of our planned trip. With mask and snorkel, we explore the underwater world and look out for sea turtles. Observing them in their natural habitat is an experience that will stay with us for a long time.
In the evening, a meal prepared by local vendors on the beach might be tempting. The aroma of grilling fills the air, your feet are in the sand, and the first stars appear overhead. With a cool drink and good conversation, the evening can easily stretch on a little longer.
**Bequia – arrive and drift**
On Bequia, we'll take our time to experience Caribbean island life. Colorful houses, small shops, and a stroll along the waterfront invite exploration. Music drifts from a bar, boats bob gently at anchor, and we're sure to find a beautiful spot with an ocean view.
We toast the day with a sundowner. Anyone who wants to can try a rum punch – every bar has its own unique blend. As the sun slowly sinks, the colors over the bay change from gold to pink. We simply linger a little longer.
**Mustique – a cocktail above water**
If our route allows, we'll make a detour to Mustique. The island is known for its celebrity guests, but we're primarily drawn to the beaches and a relaxing day ashore.
A visit to Basil's Bar would be the perfect end to the day: a cocktail in hand, the warm evening air on our skin, and the water right in front of us. Perhaps music will accompany our sundowner, or perhaps we'll simply enjoy the view and share stories of the day's adventures.
**St. Vincent – a bay with pirate flair**
One possible stop is Wallilabou Bay on St. Vincent, famous as a filming location for "Pirates of the Caribbean." Amidst tropical greenery and steep cliffs, it's easy to imagine the pirate ships from the film, like Captain Jack Sparrow coming around the corner with his Black Pearl.
We enjoy the bay from the water and, whenever possible, go ashore to explore the history of film. Afterwards, our very own pirate evening awaits.
We make ourselves comfortable in the cockpit and toast our sailing day with a Caribbean rum punch or a fruity cocktail.
The sun slowly disappears behind the horizon, the bay grows still, and the first stars appear above us. For a moment, we ourselves are part of a little Caribbean adventure – thankfully without pirates.
**St. Lucia – among the green peaks**
The striking Pitons dominate the coastline of St. Lucia and provide a breathtaking backdrop for our journey. Here, the Caribbean reveals its mountainous, lush green side.
After a swim in the sea, we make ourselves comfortable on deck. The air is still warm, the lights on land gradually come on, and the aroma of our dinner wafts from the galley. Gazing up at the mountain peaks, everyday life finally fades into the distance.
**Sailing together, enjoying together**
On board, we find our own rhythm: a swim in the sea in the morning, breakfast together, setting sail, and discovering a new bay in the afternoon. Sometimes we cook together on board, sometimes we go ashore to experience Creole cuisine.
Once the anchor is safely set, the relaxing time in the cockpit begins. We cut limes, fill our glasses, and find a spot to watch the sunset. Whether with a cocktail, a cold beer, or fresh fruit juice, we toast to a successful day of sailing as the Caribbean starry sky slowly appears above us.
Our exact route will depend on wind, weather, and local conditions. The islands and bays mentioned are possible stops – with room for spontaneous discoveries and for places where we might like to stay a little longer.
Two weeks of saltwater on your skin, wind in your sails, and Caribbean joie de vivre. Come along and trade winter for the sea.
