Three days of sailing and three fantastic activities in Galicia.

The first route in our series of "Experiencias Gallegas" begins in Gijón, making the boarding at the schooner at 4:00 p.m. Once on board, the crew will be in charge of giving a brief "security briefing", after which you will have free time to enjoy the city. At night, we will come together to enjoy dinner on board and start the adventure.

The next day we will leave around 9 in the morning, coinciding with the high tide, to begin the 3-day navigation that will take us to enjoy the spectacular Costa da Morte.

This is a land of mystery, legends and myths with a scenic beauty and a cultural interest that make it a unique area for visitors. Since ancient times, the human being considered this place as the Finisterrae, the end of the world, the door to the Hereafter.

The Costa da Morte has been the scene of a multitude of shipwrecks due to the fact that the coast line is very narrow and that storms and storms are common during the winter months. In front of the sea it is possible to see crosses that remember their victims.

The arrival to Vigo is scheduled around 10 in the morning coinciding with the incoming tide, which gives us a full day to explore the area. We start the day with a good breakfast on board and continue with a gastronomic and historical route through the city with a local guide. The duration of this activity will be approximately 2 hours, including the visit to two tapas bars made with local ingredients.

At the end, you will return to the boat to enjoy the meal, after which a bicycle route will be made along the coast with a duration of about 4 hours, with water and snacks included. Once completed, we will return to the ship where a special dinner made with products from the area will be waiting for us.

The next day, after breakfast you can choose between disembarking or accompanying us for the last exit along the Ría de Vigo where we will make a gastronomic event with tasting of local food and wine. The last disembarkation can be done the same day at 5:00 p.m.

The first time I joined them, was November 2017 as a volunteer for winter maintenance. I joined because I really wanted to support the project of keeping alive classic ships.

Since the first moment I noticed this ship is one in her kind. She was handbuilt as part of a very personal project, and that gives the ship some kind of own personality that really makes her special. And it is that personality what, in my opinion, gather around such amazing people as I found there.

I have seen how this ship changed many lives and helped many people to find out a lot about themselves. In my particular case, when I finished my first period onboard as a volunteer I felt that I had been watching the world throught a small porthole before, and that the weeks I spent onboard opened a lot of windows in my lives giving a panoramic view about how big the world was. And the most incredible part was, that all that happened being moored by the river.

I had the pleasure of joining them for a month as a crew member after that. It was aswell an incredible experience, and it is the perfect evidence of how this ship always find the way to keep her crew around.
