Crossing Ireland - Santander on a sailboat, in 9 days.

Sailboat navigation from Ireland to Santander, completing the trip that we started with the Santander-Ireland trip.

We will begin this return journey with a visit to the Saltte Islands, picking up the crew back at Kilmore Quay and, after stopping in Falmouth and L'Aber Wrc'h, we will end in Santander according to the schedule explained later.

This voyage combines navigation through the Bay of Biscay, the English Channel and the southern Irish Sea, with the observation of seabirds in their natural environment.

Plan

The client who has chosen this return crossing must be at the port of Kilmore Quay on Sunday throughout the day (Dublin airport is two hours away, and there is public transport). The first two days we will visit the Saltte Islands.

From there, crossing the south of the Irish Sea, we will reach Falmouth, on the south coast of Wales.

Our next stop, crossing the English Channel, north of French Brittany, will be L'Aber Wrac'h, famous for its oyster industry.

From there, the last stage. Crossing the Bay of Biscay, in 48 hours we will arrive in Santander. It will be Tuesday, about nine days after shipment.

Other information

It is high altitude navigation, although it is not necessary to have previous experience. Each crew member collaborates with the tasks in which they want to get involved.

Intermediate stops are subject to change, especially due to weather conditions.

The client who hires the round trip will pay €3,000 in total, saving €600.

Boat details

Sailboat cruising, comfortable, elegant, of the year 2007 but completely revised in 2018. I sailed on it from the Baltic Sea to Santander during the month of January and February, and has behaved extraordinarily. It has diesel heating, roller shutters, a large bathtub with bimini and hood.
