Crossing the Atlantic - Stage 2: from Cape Verde to the Caribbean

Crossing from Cape Verde to the Caribbean across the Atlantic Ocean aboard a sailboat.

This voyage will allow you to experience an ocean adventure, adding miles and gaining experience. Our boat has crossed the Atlantic dozens of times, standing out among its crew for the safety it offers.

On board you will be able to receive nautical guidance from expert RYA instructor skippers, who will assist you with navigation, safety, route plans, life on board, etc. We will go from theory to practice.

En route we will use the usual surveillance system on board: the watches. You will learn how they are organized, dangers and precautions at night and finally how to be a watch leader. There are many miles to cover, we will do daily weather analysis using satellite communications, grib files and direct observation.

The crossing allows you to accumulate miles in tidal waters, for RYA Yachtmaster courses or for the PPER.

Before crossing to the Caribbean, we will make the crossing from the Canary Islands to Cape Verde. You can check the information and book a place here.

Plan

This voyage is totally focused as an ocean navigation school. On board there will be two RYA instructors with thousands of miles of experience in navigation and, above all, in training.

Boarding: 10:00am on the starting day.

Disembarkation: 15:00 on the last day.

(Possibility to board the day before departure and disembark the day after, you can check options).

Type of navigation: oceanic.

Onboard instructors: 2.

Students on board: 8 at most.

Miles to sail: 2300 Nm.

Duration: 20 days.

Age: between 18 and 75 years old.

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (english, portuguese and spanish)

The price includes:
Accommodation on board with own bunk and storage area, skipper and first mate, pre-sail training.

The price does not include:
Transfer to the port of departure, meals and drinks on land, cash on board (between €25 and €35 per person per day to cover fuel, docking and full board on board).

There is the possibility of obtaining certificates and qualifications such as: RYA Competent Crew, RYA Watch Leader, Essential Navigation & Seaman Ship or Astronomical Navigation. Please consult us for options before booking.

72-foot ketch-rigged steel ocean-going sailboat designed by German Frers, one of the most prestigious naval designers of all time, who built it for his brother, who wanted a boat to sail around the world in comfort, safety and ease.

The boat is in perfect sailing condition, having undergone several refits throughout its history (the last of which was in 2024).

Sailing school vessel crewed by experienced RYA instructors. We love having people with a wide variety of skill levels and sailing knowledge on board.

Whether you have never sailed before or have already crossed an ocean, the experienced permanent crew will enjoy teaching you all the facets of sea navigation. We sail together on the boat and a close-knit team is formed along the way. By the time we reach our destination you will be an experienced sailor!
