This thing is a crazy idea, but a cool one. This trip will start in Nassau and cross the Gulf Stream via the Berry Islands and Bimini, both still part of the Bahamas, and lead to Miami. From there it goes north in a few short stages to West Palm Beach. This trip has a big catch, namely that Europeans who enter the USA by ship need a B1 visa, which must be applied for in an American consulate in good time before the trip, if it is not already available. This trip is therefore particularly suitable for US citizens, people who already have a visa for work or other reasons or crazy people like me who think the idea is so great that they apply for one specifically for it.
The stages are kept quite short with a maximum of around 80 nm and even if the pure route over the Gulf Stream is not very long, this stroke can always be tricky and requires some sailing skill. Otherwise we want to take our time

    First a little Bahamas, who can say no to that? The Berry Islands archipelago at least partially and Bimini will be our first stops on the way to Miami. We will clear out on Bimini and clear into the Miami and devote ourselves to the metropolis. From there, depending on the weather, we head north towards our destination West Palm Beach.
    A versatile trip where you shouldn't plan too precisely too early, because you determine the pace!

Boat details

We love our Rocinante dearly and as an owner ship there is no maintenance backlog. Our skipper Jan lives on the ship almost all year round and takes care of it. Once purchased, equipped with AIS, spinnaker, solar panels, wind generator, large dinghy, two SUPs and snorkeling equipment, she is a comfortable and safe blue water vessel. In 2023, a new certification was carried out by the trade association for transport, which is a prerequisite for commercial sailing for every German charter company.
We don't charter, we know our ship.
