In Ulysses' Sea, between sea and myth, breathing and awareness with yoga

Among the most beautiful islands of the Ionian Sea, yoga and pranayama on board
Sailing Ulysses' sea means slowing down, following the wind, and letting the journey take shape day by day.
It's a sailing experience that combines sea, islands, nature, and shared time, far from the rhythms of organized vacations.

Here the sea is not a backdrop, but the space in which one lives.

Why “In the Sea of Ulysses”
This journey takes inspiration from the ancient Mediterranean and the Aegean and Ionian routes, where navigation was about discovery, anticipation, and return.
It's not about collecting stages, but about crossing places with respect, listening to the sea and the rhythm of the group.

Ulysses was not looking for a shortcut: he was looking for the meaning of the journey.

The islands and the route
The sailing takes place between Lefkada, Meganisi, Kalamos, Kastos, Ithaca and Kefalonia, with possible variations based on weather conditions and the departure point.
Sheltered bays, small ports, transparent waters and still authentic islands characterize this part of the Ionian.

The route is not rigid: the wind, the sea and the atmosphere of the moment guide the daily choices.

Life on board
The boat is home, a means of travel and a place of sharing.
The days pass between sailing, stops at anchor, swimming, moments of relaxation and simple daily gestures experienced together.

Everyone participates in life on board according to their own wishes, without obligations.
The skipper leads the navigation and accompanies the group, fostering an informal, collaborative, and respectful atmosphere.

Time expands, the pace slows.

Activities and special moments
During the week, when conditions permit, shore excursions, walks, and light trekking to discover the islands are possible.

On July and August tours, it is also possible to participate in optional yoga, meditation, and pranayama sessions, led by an instructor on board.
A complementary moment to navigation, for those who desire listening, balance and presence.

Who is this trip suitable for?
This trip is suitable for those who love the sea and sailing, are looking for an authentic experience, and want to share time and space in a simple and respectful way.

However, it is not suitable for those looking for rigid itineraries, hotel comforts, or a holiday completely organized down to the last detail.

  • Plan
    The program, day by day
(indicative and adaptable to the weather and the pace of the group)

    Friday – Boarding
Boarding in the late afternoon in Lefkada, or alternatively in Sami or Agia Eufemia (Kefalonia). Settling in, initial briefing, and first dinner together. The night is spent in port.

    Saturday – First sails
We set sail and get into the rhythm of Ionian sailing. We set sail for Skorpios and Meganisi, passing tranquil bays and crystal-clear waters. We make our first stops for swimming and spend the evening at anchor or in a small port.

    Sunday – Kalamos and Kastos
We'll sail to Kalamos and Kastos, small and rarely visited islands. The day alternates sailing, bay stops, and time at sea. In the evening, we'll choose a landing place based on the weather and the local atmosphere.

    Monday – Atokos and Ithaca
We set sail for Atokos, stopping in one of its wild bays, ideal for a dip in the clear waters. In the afternoon, we continue to Ithaca, the island that symbolizes this journey, where we drop anchor for the night.

    Tuesday – Ithaca
A day dedicated to Ithaca: coastal sailing, swimming, and the opportunity to visit Kioni and Vathy, with their small harbors, walks, and tavernas. An island to be experienced at your leisure.

    Wednesday – Towards Kefalonia
We leave Ithaca and sail towards Kefalonia, arriving in Sami or Agia Eufemia. Weather permitting, there's the option of a walk to the green acropolis of Sami. Enjoy a peaceful evening.

Thursday – Polis Bay and return
We'll sail to Polis Bay, north of Ithaca, for a final swim in a picturesque bay. Those who wish can climb to Stavros, a village near the ruins of Odysseus's castle, for a glimpse of history and sea views. In the afternoon, we'll set sail again toward the port of return.

    Friday – Aphales Ithaca
Breakfast on board and we'll continue towards Aphales, a bay with a lovely beach, sea permitting. In the afternoon, we'll set sail again towards the return port. Breakfast on board and disembarkation in the morning at the arrival port.

    Saturday – disembarkation in Lefkada
Breakfast on board and disembarkation at the port of arrival by 9 am.

Other information
All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (english, french and italian)

We'll prefer sailing and stopping in bays rather than ports, to enjoy the sea, nature, and onboard cuisine. However, there will be plenty of stops on land, with visits to the charming villages of the Greek islands and their taverns brimming with the culinary delights of Ulysses' heirs.

We'll divide navigation duties among those who wish, respecting our fellow travelers and, above all, the places we'll visit, taking care to minimize our impact on the surrounding nature and ecosystem. The itinerary may vary due to weather conditions.

Exclusive bathroom, only for aft cabins: +€70 per person
Available places: 8 in 3 double cabins, 2 cabins with 2 single bunk beds (one cabin will be occupied by the skipper and assistant).

Skipper and co-skipper on board.

Onboard expenses: Flat rate of €300 per person, including half board (breakfast and lunch), meal preparation, food, fuel, port fees, and diesel.
Optional yoga and pranayama sessions, led by an instructor on board. (Ask for details when booking.)

I've been sailing for over 30 years, taking sailing courses on Caprera, numerous Soling, Tornado, and Star class regattas, and cruising aboard 37- to 45-foot cabin cruisers in Greece, the Mediterranean, the Balearics, the Alboran Sea, the Ionian, and the Adriatic. I'm a member of the Mandello del Lario Naval League. I've been sailing in Greece since 2015 with my own 48-foot Viva 48.

Boat details

Reviews of the Bavaria 50 describe it as a spacious, comfortable, and stable cruising sailboat, pleasant to sail but less "jaunty" than the Bavaria 45. It's appreciated for its spacious cockpit and functional design with twin rudders that ensure good visibility. Performance is considered adequate for the average owner, with good cruising speeds both under sail and under power.

Strengths
Performance: It reaches good cruising speeds both under sail and under motor (around 8 knots under motor) and the hull meets the needs of an average owner.

Navigation: Considered pleasant and calm, easy to handle even with a small crew.

Spaces: It offers a spacious cockpit with two large sofas, ideal for relaxing in company, and comfortable interior spaces.

Ergonomics: The controls are well positioned and easily accessible from both sides.
