Departure from the Masnou port, heading to Marseille, Porquerolles Islands, in the south of France. It is possible that, to make the outbound trip more enjoyable, we will stop at a cove or port on the Costa Brava.

The plan is to sail with a sextant, stopwatch and nautical almanac to improve knowledge in astronomical navigation and to be able to guide us through the stars, as they did in the past and as captains must be able to control and manage with skill.

The main idea is to visit the busy Porquerolles Islands. The archipelago has some magnificent coves, some of them rated as among the best in the Mediterranean.

In addition to enjoying the beaches, we will also go sightseeing in Marseille and visit the Castle of If, famous for the novel by Alexander Dumas and the movies based on it: The Count of Monte Cristo.

It is very likely that we will do between 500 and 600 nautical miles. On this trip we will have practiced with different sextants on board and all of us must have ended up being dexterous in astronomical navigation.

It is recommended both for skippers and yacht captains who want to continue training and also for sailing and adventure lovers who want to start out in astronomical sailing or, simply, in pleasure sailing.

It's a journey to enjoy, especially in summer.

  • Plan
We met on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. to introduce ourselves, get settled in the sailboat, do safety briefings and finalize details. Afterwards, we will go to do the joint shopping and the stowage on board among the entire crew. The plan is to set sail that same afternoon when we are ready and the ship is well equipped with water, food and fuel.

The idea is to make the trip as pleasant as possible and, if the crew is satisfied, we will make a first stop at a port on the Costa Brava, either Roses or a similar one. We will spend the night and, the next day, we will head to France, Porquerolles Islands.

The idea would be to spend Tuesday in Porquerolles and enjoy its beaches, doing water activities such as paddle surfing, snorkeling, and tourism, disembarking with the auxiliary boat or dingui.

The next step would be to go to Marseille for sightseeing in a city that retains all the charm of the Mediterranean and also its gastronomy. Of course, we'll pay a visit to the Chateau d'If.

The next step would be to be able to go to the port and city of Setè, where we can taste the best oysters we have ever eaten in the Mediterranean. Visit to the town. We'll spend the night there.

The return will take place heading to the Costa Brava. The idea is to arrive at the Masnou port between Saturday and Sunday. We will save a day to count on any possible delay due to bad weather, but the disembarkation is on Saturday at 18:00.

Possibility to spend the night on the sailboat on Saturday night if you are coming from outside and the transport (plane or train) has been taken for Sunday.

Other information
We will make a fund of 220 euros for meals on board, fuel and moorings in port. If there is no need to add more, it will be calculated during the journey. If you need to put something else, it would be seen during the stairs.

The captain may prepare some meals and stowage for part of the food and water to be taken on board, but not as a contractual obligation, but as an extra service that the skipper will do of his own free will.

Abstain from people who do not collaborate in the most basic tasks of a sailing trip, such as cleaning common areas and creating a bad environment for other passengers or the captain. Please be people who want to share and create a good environment. Thank you.

Hello, I am Domingo, PPER or professional captain, I have been sailing for many years, I have owned several sailboats, and I also teach nautical classes. This past summer I have worked with a Bali 40 catamaran, but what I like most is sailing with sailboats and sailing along the Catalan coast or to the Balearic Islands.

Domingo is friendly, but the journey was lacking. We miss the functions of an ordinary cook. The trip was offered with this included and his tasks, which were taken over by the boss, were limited to defrosting 4 meals (he did not prepare breakfast or dinner). Tb, deficiencies with respect to the knowledge of the coves.

I thank you for your participation in the trip and I regret the bad weather we had and to say that on outings of this type, people who have already done several take it for granted the collaboration of all the participants in the tasks of the ship.

This may not be the type of output for your profile.

The experience in Menorca was nice and the captain was close, although the cleanliness was a point to improve: bathrooms, kitchen and living room were barely serviced, and one day flies even appeared for not picking up food. It would also be good to organize meals better and to be updated in the choice of coves.
