Sailing from Valencia to Canary Islands

Prepare yourself for this adventure journey from Ibiza to Las Palmas, Canary Islands.

In general, the voyage will take about 10 days with stopover in Algeciras/Gibraltar then straight to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. 1000 Nautical miles of blue water cruising.

The voyage is for those who love the sea and sailing and have a bit sailing experience.

Not to worry if you are just a beginner or a dreamer. I will teach you the basics. You will archive a lot of great experiences from this trip and no doubt you will fall in love with sailing.

Plan

FIRST LEG:

We will sail down South to Algeciras, Spain will takes us about 3-4 days (about 370 Nautical Miles) One - two days to explore Gibraltar/Agesiras load editional provisions and fuel.

SECOND LEG:

Algeciras, Spain to Las Palmas, Grand Canary 600 Nautical Miles about 6 days of blue water cruising along the Marocco NW coast of Africa.

TOTAL - 10 days or 1000 Nautical Miles

ACTIVITIES:

1. During all voyage interested crew will learn how to:

- Set a sails
- Remove sails
- Read a weather forecast and weather maps
- Maneuver with the sails
- Maneuver on the engine
- Work with nautical maps (plot ships posn, make a passage plan, etc)
- Act in emergency situations (man overboard, smoke/fire on board, heavy weather sailing/motoring)
- Use yacht systems and equipment properly (marine philosophy)
- Use rescue and emergency equipment (Life raft, Safety Jacket, EPIRB, PLB, Fire rockets and flares, etc. )
- Tide a marine knots
- Catch a baby tuna ;) lol, just kidding, it's pure luck when you trolling, but if you do it right it will come unexpectedly, just be prepared)
- What ever I learn from solo sailing and marine background I totally opened to give my knowledge to you guys

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (english)

DEPARTURE DATES AND DURATION OF THE TRIP. We depend on the weather and we go with the wind, so the hours and days of navigation may not be exact.

*MEALS ON BOARD. Food expenses will be divided among all crew members. We will make sure that all the provisions are ready before leaving. Food costs are usually between 15 - 20 euros per person per day.

*EQUIPEMENT. It is necessary to wear warm and waterproof clothing. Appropriate footwear for nautical.

*EXPERIENCE. It is not necessary that you have previous experience in navigation, just the desire to learn and enjoy this adventure.

*LIFE ON BOARD. On-board tasks are collaborative. Guards, kitchen, order and cleaning is organized by everyone.
