Our journey begins in Tromsø, where we arrive, stock the yacht, and take a brief walk through one of the Arctic’s most vibrant towns. The following morning, we set sail with an ambitious goal: reaching the North Cape in a single passage. If weather and sea conditions cooperate, we will spend approximately 48 hours at sea, covering nearly 200 nautical miles through some of Norway’s most spectacular waters.
Upon arrival in the Nordkapp region, we will have the opportunity to explore the area ashore. Depending on the conditions, we may berth either in sheltered Honningsvåg, from where organized tours to the North Cape are available, or in Skarsvåg, the closest harbour to Nordkapp and an excellent starting point for independent exploration by car, scooter, or on foot.
From there, our route continues to Havøysund, a charming fishing community often regarded as one of Finnmark’s hidden gems. Depending on the weather, we may choose the direct route or extend our voyage by sailing around the North Cape itself, adding another memorable highlight to the expedition.
Heading south along the rugged Finnmark coastline, we make our way to Hammerfest, passing remote islands, dramatic headlands, and sheltered sounds. The exact route will always be adapted to the prevailing conditions, allowing us to experience the Arctic coast at its best.
Further along the journey, we may stop either in Skjervøy, one of the region’s most attractive coastal towns, or in the more remote settlement of Hasvik, where a short hike rewards visitors with breathtaking views across the Arctic landscape. Our choice of destination will be guided primarily by the weather forecast.
The final sailing days take us through some of northern Norway’s most beautiful waters toward Vannvåg or Arnøya. At this time of year, whale sightings are still possible in the fjords, adding an element of excitement to the voyage. These peaceful harbours provide a perfect setting to enjoy the quiet beauty and wilderness of the Arctic coast before returning to Tromsø.
Back in Tromsø, our expedition comes to an end. After one final night aboard, we catch our morning flights home, taking with us memories of remote harbours, open Arctic seas, and the unforgettable experience of sailing to the very edge of Europe.
