Thursday · Boarding in Venice and crew training.
Welcome aboard the ship.
Reception of participants in Venice, boarding and distribution of cabins. We will present the ship and carry out the initial briefing on safety, operation on board and crew organization.
It will be time to get to know each other, explain how we are going to work over the next few days and start distributing functions based on the experience of each participant.
We will also review the complete Veleziana program, the initial weather forecasts and the peculiarities of sailing around Venice.
The day will have a calm pace, specially designed so that those arriving from different points can join the boat.
Goal of the day: get on board, get to know the ship and start turning a group of sailors into a crew.
Friday · Sailing around Venice.
Start browsing.
We will go sailing to familiarize ourselves with the D&D Kufner 54 and discover one of the most unique nautical scenarios in Europe.
It will be a day that will combine sailing, learning and discovering Venice from the sea.
We will work:
- Distribution of positions on board.
- Basic maneuvers and crew coordination.
- Trimado de mayor and Genoa.
- Gennaker maneuvers if conditions permit.
- Onboard communications.
- Navigation and peculiarities of the Venetian environment.
- First analysis of the race course.
We also want there to be time to enjoy the place. One of the great differences of this experience is precisely getting to know Venice from a sailboat, moving away from the conventional tourist experience.
Objective of the day: get to know the boat, sail together and discover the stage where we will compete in the Veleziana.
Saturday · Regatta training.
Saturday will be our main day of preparation.
The intention is to carry out a training session that is much more focused on competition and to make sure that each crew member is clear about what their role will be the next day.
We will practice especially: exits and approach to the line, trim and speed, twists and turns, Gennaker maneuvers, bow and bath coordination and communication between skipper and crew.
Depending on the conditions, we will perform different exercises and small simulations of situations that we may encounter during the race.
After training, we will analyze the planned route for the Veleziana, the meteorology and the strategy.
We will finish with a race briefing, definitively assigning the positions:
skipper, tactics/navigation, major, Genova, Gennaker, piano, bow and maneuver support.
We don't want to turn anyone into a professional sailor in two days. The goal is much more interesting: to let everyone know what to do, when to do it and why.
Objective of the day: to arrive at Sunday as a coordinated crew.
Sunday · VELEZIANA.
The time has come. After three days of preparing the ship and the crew, we will go out to contest the Veleziana.
We will prepare the boat from the start, check the weather forecasts, review the strategy and head to the departure area.
And then the regatta begins. We will no longer be training. We will be competing.
Each participant will occupy their position and will be an active part of the crew.
The Veleziana will allow us to experience an extraordinary combination of sailing, competition and landscape, sailing alongside a large fleet of sailboats in the surroundings of Venice.
But the best is yet to come. The regatta ends by entering one of the most extraordinary scenarios a navigator can experience: the Bacino di San Marco.
After several days of seeing Venice from the boat, we will end our adventure sailing in a regatta in front of San Marco.
After crossing the finish line, we will return to the mooring to close the experience, discuss the race and say goodbye to the crew.
The objective of the day is very simple: to experience the Veleziana from the inside.
