Adventure offered by Martin

The Strait is not navigated, it is conquered!

Are you looking for a conventional ride or a true nautical adventure? If you prefer to feel the saltpeter on your face and the wind in the sails rather than a catalog tour, you've come to the right place. I propose a weekend aboard a Beneteau Oceanis Clipper 39.3 with an indomitable soul, designed for those who understand that the sea of Cádiz is not for everyone.

Our journey is not a simple journey; it is an immersion in the mystique and “madness” of the Strait of Gibraltar. Here, where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean shake hands under the eyes of the Pillars of Hercules, sailing becomes technical, exciting and wild. It's the perfect setting for those looking for authenticity.

What awaits you on board?

Real Candle: Here the engine is the last resort. If the wind roars, the sails rule. You will learn to trimar, to understand the currents of the Strait and to feel the noble shoring of a 39 foot ready for anything.

Wild Nature: We will sail through the most important cetacean sanctuary in Europe. Dolphins, calderones and the chance to see orcas will set the pace for our guards.

Sailing Spirit: My philosophy is based on three pillars: the adrenaline of sport fishing, the comfort of motor cruises and, above all, the passion for pure sailing. We will share stories, maneuvers and the real essence of the Cádiz coast.

Camaraderie and Disconnection: Sunsets with the silhouette of Africa on the horizon and nights under the stars. This isn't just a boat, it's a floating home with three double cabins and a cozy lounge where the best anecdotes are born.

We are looking for crew members who want to learn, to laugh and to experience the sea in a different way. No previous experience is needed, just the desire to cross the wind border.

Do you dare to discover why the Strait changes who sail it? We are waiting for you.

    Friday: the jump to Africa.

13:30 — Meeting point: Reception of the crew at the Port of Barbate. Food stowage, cabin assignment and safety briefing.

14:00 — Release of restraints: We leave on time to take advantage of all the sunlight. We leave behind the shores of Cádiz to enter the heart of the Strait.

The Journey: Technical navigation on board the ship. We will cross the traffic separation device and enter a whale watching area. It's time to set sail and feel the power of the Strait under the helmet of the Beneteau 39.3.

Sunset and Arrival: Triumphant entry to Ceuta with the last lights of the day. Docking, dinner on board or in the city and first night under the African stars.

Saturday: exploration and relaxation in the mystical city.

Day off in Ceuta: After breakfast in the boat tub, the day is yours.

Options: You can visit the Royal Walls and their navigable moat (unique in the world), get lost in the souk, or enjoy the Mediterranean Maritime Park.

Marine Essence: For those who want more boats, we can discuss maneuvers or simply enjoy the peace of the port. Night of conviviality and anecdotes of the sea in the bathtub of the sailboat.

Sunday: the conquest of the return.

09:00 — Heading North: Strong breakfast and departure from Ceuta. We are once again challenging the currents of the Strait, this time with our eyes set on the outline of Trafalgar.

Active Sailing: Sunday is usually the day when the crew is already engaged. It's time to take the helm and feel the nobility of the Oceanis 39.3 on your way home.

17:00 — End of the adventure: Arrival at the base port in Barbate. Farewell to the crew with the “poison” of the Sea of Cádiz already in their veins and the satisfaction of having crossed one of the most mythical borders in the world.

Other information
All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (spanish)

To make the most of the “madness” of the Strait and the conviviality on board, here are some basic recommendations:

1. Baggage: Less is more.

Space on a 39-foot sailboat is sacred. Please bring a soft suitcase (backpack); rigid suitcases are impossible to stow and end up getting in the way.

2. Clothing and Footwear.

- Nautical footwear: Or shoes with white/clear rubber soles that grip well and do not mark the cover. Black street heels or soles are prohibited.

- Onion effect: In the Strait, even if it's sunny, wind and humidity can cool down a lot. Bring a windbreaker or technical jacket, even in summer.

- Protection: Cap, drawstring sunglasses and sunscreen (the reflection of the water is deceiving!).

3. Dizziness: Don't let it ruin your trip.

The Strait has its character. If you don't have much experience or know that you're feeling dizzy, I recommend taking caffeinated biodramine 30 minutes before leaving Barbate. Once at sea, the secret is to look at the horizon and keep your stomach with something solid.

4. Sustainability and Water.

Fresh water on board is limited. We use it for drinking and basic grooming, but we learn to be responsible with it. It's part of a good navigator's learning!

5. Attitude.

Come with an open mind. The Cadiz Sea and the Strait are unpredictable; sometimes the wind forces us to change plans or work harder on the sails. This uncertainty is precisely what makes this journey unique and not a simple scheduled trip.

6. Food and Common Expenses.

We usually organize a common fund for the purchase of groceries and port expenses outside the base. If you have any allergies or dietary preferences, let me know as soon as you book so we can coordinate.
