Sailing Adventure from Tivat to Rome

Our journey begins in Tivat, Montenegro, with a real offshore passage across the Adriatic Sea towards Brindisi in southern Italy.

This first stage immediately gives us the feeling of proper sailing. In suitable conditions, the prevailing wind can allow us to sail comfortably across the Adriatic with the sails fully set. This is a perfect moment to getting to know each other as a crew and settling into the rhythm of life on board. Together, we'll share watches, enjoy the open sea, sunsets and stars far from the coast. Depending on the conditions, we expect approximately 30–40 hours of sailing.

After the crossing, we arrive in Brindisi, an important historic port city with a strong maritime character and a large naval base. Depending on availability, we may be able to stay directly along the city quay, right in the centre, making it easy to explore the town, rest and prepare for the next part of the journey.

From Brindisi we continue south along the Italian coast, passing Otranto, Santa Maria di Leuca and Crotone before heading across open water towards Sicily.

This stage combines coastal sailing with short stops and a longer offshore passage. If conditions allow, we can stop at anchor near Otranto and spend a few hours exploring its old town and impressive fortress. Further south, in Leuca, there may be another opportunity to anchor and go ashore, where a walk up towards the lighthouse opens wide views over the meeting point of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas.

After leaving the coast, we continue with a night passage across open water towards Crotone. This city locates on the eastern coast of Calabria, known in antiquity as Kroton and associated with the Greek philosopher Pythagoras. We plan to arrive in the morning and spend time in the central marina, visit the fish market and explore nearby.

From Crotone, we continue west towards Sicily. Our destination is Syracuse, very fascinating historic city in the Mediterranean, with an atmospheric old town and a interesting history.
This stage is expected to take approximately 3 - 4 days.

After reaching Sicily, we head towards one of the most spectacular parts of the trip — the Aeolian Islands.

This stage is less about covering long distances and more about enjoying the Mediterranean itself. The volcanic islands, clear water and dramatic landscapes create a completely different atmosphere from the longer offshore passages.

Depending on weather and timing, we plan to sail between the islands, anchor in beautiful locations, swim and spend time ashore where possible. Rather than rushing towards the final destination, this is the part of the journey where we can slow down and enjoy island life together. This passage includes beautiful spots to visit like Messina, Volcano, Lipari and Sromboli islands.

We expect to spend approximately 2–3 days around this section of the route before continuing.

We leave the Aeolian Islands behind and begin the final leg of our Mediterranean journey towards Rome.

This stage brings us back to longer-distance sailing as we head north through the Tyrrhenian Sea. After the slower rhythm of the islands, we return to open-water sailing, watches, sunsets at sea and the unique feeling of travelling between countries and cities entirely by sailboat.

Depending on the conditions and the route chosen by the captain, the final passage is expected to take approximately 2–3 days.

Finally, the Italian coast comes back into view and we complete our journey near Rome.
