Sailing trip around the Bay of Santander, Mouro and Santa Marina

Embark on a unique experience aboard a sailboat through the spectacular Bay of Santander and the islands of Mouro and Santa Marina. This excursion is designed both for those who want to enjoy the sea in a relaxed and touristic way, as well as for those who are looking for a first contact with sailing or want to perfect their nautical skills.

During the journey, you will discover some of the most emblematic corners of the Cantabrian coast: from the majesty of the Magdalena Palace seen from the water, to the imposing Mouro lighthouse and the wild silhouette of Santa Marina, a natural sanctuary for seabirds.

Description of the experience:

Set sail with us on an unforgettable sailing trip through one of the most beautiful places on the north coast: the Bay of Santander and its surroundings. We will sail at a slow pace, leaving behind the marina to enter open waters and discover from a unique perspective the most emblematic landscapes of the Cantabrian coast.

Detailed itinerary:

Boarding at the port of Santander (Puerto Chico or Marina del Cantabrian dock): Presentation of the skipper, distribution of vests and brief safety briefing.

Santander Bay: We started sailing along the city, with privileged views of the Paseo Marítimo, the Botín Center, the Festival Palace and the Magdalena Peninsula.

Heading to Mouro Island: We crossed the mouth of the bay to border this iconic island with its solitary lighthouse and steep cliffs. Here you can observe seabirds and, if conditions permit, we will anchor briefly for a short break or swim.

Santa Marina Island: We continue to this long and wild island, located in front of Loredo beach. With a little luck, we'll be able to see cormorants, peregrine falcons, or even dolphins.

Return sailing: If the wind allows it, we will deploy sails for an authentic sailing experience in the Cantabrian Sea, allowing passengers to participate in the maneuvers if they wish.

Disembark at the same port of departure with a last view of Santander from the sea.

1. Local tasting on board (optional)

Offering a small tasting of Cantabrian products on board —such as cheeses, anchovies from Santoña, sobaos or a glass of local white wine— can be a great attraction for tourists looking for a more complete and authentic experience.

2. Special sunset pack (for afternoon outings)

For the sunrise from 16:00 to 20:00, highlighting the possibility of watching the sunset from the sea in front of the bay can be very attractive for couples and photographers. You can offer it as a romantic or premium experience, with a glass of champagne included.

Promote the route as ideal for small celebrations: birthdays, anniversaries, quiet goodbyes or even marriage proposals. Offering the possibility of booking the sailboat exclusively for small groups (up to 6-8 people) is attractive.

Including the possibility of seeing seabirds or dolphins in the wild —although not guaranteed— provides a naturalistic component that many value. You can mention that they are seen frequently, especially in the vicinity of Santa Marina.
