The Navigation License, a generic name that refers to what was previously known as “Titulín”, is a navigation permit that is necessary to obtain in order to enjoy sailing aboard a specific type of vessel.
Among the specific powers of the Navigation License is the control of recreational vessels up to 6 meters in length, at a maximum distance of 2 miles from the coast during the day.
Thanks to the approval of Royal Decree 238/2019, the Navigation License also allows the handling of jet skis without power limit, given that the theoretical training is transversal and also qualifies for the control of this type of recreational vessels.
To be eligible for a Navigation License, you only need to meet four basic requirements: be over 16 years old, complete a theoretical course lasting at least two hours, complete a total of four hours of basic safety and navigation practices, and be in possession of a psychotechnical certificate.
In Murcia, one of the reference schools for obtaining a Navigation License is ours, which offers a Navigation License course in which all the theory related to navigation is taught, the basic notions for the proper use of radio stations, and aspects of basic training blocks are explained, including safety, engine operation and identification of their parts, everything related to ropework, maneuvers in docks, docking and undocking, hauling the anchor and anchoring, and advanced theory on safety maneuvers.
In just six hours of training you can obtain a Navigation License, without having to pass a theoretical or practical exam, and speeding up the allocation of permits to enjoy recreational boats, making it the necessary permit to enjoy a recreational getaway at sea.
