From the Breton Atlantic coast to London: This trip takes us from Brest through the English Channel, past the south coast of England and finally up the Thames.

Challenging navigation, strong tidal currents and heavy shipping traffic make the route a varied and rewarding experience.

Period: April 18, 2027, 5:00 PM to April 23, 2027, 10:00 AM (6 days)
Start: Brest, France
Destination: London, Great Britain

Depending on wind, weather, and the course of the trip, we sail on a watch system. Everyone on board is involved in navigation, weather observation, sailing maneuvers, and ship handling. The tidal planning, traffic separation schemes, and heavy shipping traffic in the English Channel make this trip particularly interesting from a navigational perspective.

Prior yacht sailing experience is advantageous but not required. Team spirit, reliability, and a willingness to actively participate in onboard life are essential. This trip is suitable for anyone who wants to log sea miles, deepen their knowledge of tidal and coastal navigation, or explore a challenging sailing area.
The exact route and possible stopovers will depend on current conditions.

After several days at sea, we reach London via the Thames. Seeing the city slowly emerge from the water and approaching Tower Bridge is a special end to this voyage.

Sailing is on a 43-foot Beneteau Oceanis. The yacht has three double cabins, one cabin with bunk beds, and two bathrooms. Its sailing characteristics and comprehensive safety equipment make it a good yacht for demanding coastal and offshore passages.

My sailing and sports boat school is in the middle of Berlin. Here you will learn to sail, drive a motorboat and radio, as well as prepare for a trip on the high seas.
I have been passionately running the sailing school with my team since 2006.

A great sailing and water sports school. I obtained my SBF-See, SBF-Binnen/Segel and UBI/SRC here. Friendly, patient trainers who use their experience and skills to get you to the required exam level. Despite the training, there is still plenty of fun and they take the time to respond to special requests/concerns. I would love to come back here to broaden my maritime horizons.

The theory compact course (in my case SBF Inland) is really very good and prepares you ideally for the exam and beyond.
I also really liked the friendly trainers during the practical training sessions. This meant I was able to pass both exams straight away.

Very good preparation for the exam and future sailing experiences. You can see that all the trainers are very passionate about what they do.
There are always reports of experiences and additional theoretical background on all exam-relevant topics, so that you feel very well prepared the first time you are alone on the boat.

I just did my SBF inland sailing/motor here.
Great people, pleasant atmosphere. The teachers are easy-going, but still competent and can show you what is important when sailing.
If you don't feel completely confident with certain maneuvers, just ask. There is no rigid curriculum that has to be followed. You can decide for yourself where you need more practice.
As you gain experience, you will spend some time on board with just other students. This helps you to feel responsible for the boat and the maneuvers and to coordinate with the other students. But don't worry, a boat with a teacher is always nearby if something goes wrong or you have any questions.
