Sail Galicia: the authentic ocean sailing experience!!
Unlike other nautical activities that take place in inland waters such as reservoirs or in seas with little wind and no tides, this Master of Ocean Sailing invites you to experience sailing in its purest and most real form: in the Atlantic Ocean. To sail in Galicia is to face a marine environment full of life and challenges, where tides, currents, lighthouses, port and maritime traffic, waves and the low pressures of the Atlantic are part of learning and adventure.
Our master's degree is directed and taught by official instructors qualified by the Galician Sailing Federation and Merchant Shipping, which guarantees maximum safety and a professional approach to each maneuver. More than just a simple voyage, this experience immerses you in authentic ocean navigation: wind, sea and technology come together to offer you a unique and formative experience, very different from sailing in swamps or Mediterranean waters.
Come and discover Galicia from the sea and learn to sail where sailors are truly forged: in the Atlantic.
Improve your confidence and safety on board with this 3-day sailing through Rías Baixas aboard our sailboat.
Enjoy the Rías Baixas while learning and perfecting your sailing knowledge: sailing, mooring, docking, meteor, charting, planning, crew... If you are a skipper or navigator, in this ocean sailing course you will expand your knowledge of nautical qualifications (PER, PNB...), which we all know are very theoretical and are not enough to go out to sea safely and efficiently based on the conditions of each ship and the state of the weather.
There
will be 3 days of sailing with 8 hours of sailing per day (including several hours of night sailing) and, in addition, with time to visit and enjoy every place we pass by. We will sail in our Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i Performance, with a length of 11 meters. It is a very fast boat (Perfomance version with a long pole and long keel), with all the maneuver in dynema and harken returned to the piano in the bathtub, making it very easy to navigate and with an impressive habitability due to a 3.6 m sleeve and its great luminosity.
There will be a maximum of 5 students on board. All our instructors are Professional Recreation Skipers (PPER), sailing sports technicians, etc.
During the course-journey we will review the following concepts.
1) VESSEL:
- Government. Improve governance capacity by adapting to weather conditions Dangers and advantages of each course depending on sea and wind conditions.
- Techniques in bad weather. How to deal with storms safely.
- Candle trimming. Understand in depth the adjustment of sails depending on the course and the weather (intensity of wind and waves).
- Docking. Use and function of each mooring, influence of wind, current and propeller pitch, on the choice of maneuver. Crew organization.
- Spinnaker navigation (if conditions permit). Hoisting and lowering techniques, brushed techniques and crew coordination in maneuvers.

- Supply and fuel. Calculation of requirements according to the type and duration of the voyage, number of crew members and equipment of the boat.
- Anchorage. Choice of holder according to weather, terrain and type of background. Safety conditions for the boat and crew during the maneuver. Anchoring alarms.
