Navigation course with sextant from Barcelona

Weekend navigation with departure and arrival in Barcelona to practice navigation with a sextant.

During the voyage we will study in depth the fundamentals of Nautical Astronomy. Concepts such as Calendars, Solar Analemma, establishment of the HRB or the Terrestrial, Hourly, Horizontal and Uranographic Coordinates, we hope that they will be familiar to us once this navigation is finished.

Other sections of the program of this navigation will be the following:

Adjustment of the Sextant with the stars
Naked eye observation of the constellations
Location of the Summer and Winter Triangles.
Tricks to obtain the height of the Stars and Planets.
Positioning by Square.
Obtaining heights in the Meridian, Morning and Evening Twilight.
Obtaining the Longitude and Latitude of the Vessel.

Plan

We set sail from the Base Port El Balís (Barcelona) on Friday at 09:00 a.m.
Sailing without a fixed course through the Balearic Islands Maritime Zone
We arrive at the Base Port on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Delivery of Diplomas.

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (spanish)

Navigation is confirmed, it is not necessary to cover a minimum number of participants.

TEACHING MATERIAL TO PROVIDE BY THE STUDENTS (we will work in pairs):

- Sextant (optional, although convenient).
- Spanish Nautical Almanac 2022 (1 per couple).
- DIN A-4 squared notebook, pencil, pen, eraser and sharpener.
- Rule, square or bevel.
- Drawing compass.
- Wrist watch with second hand
- Front with red light.
