“Gain experience and grow as a sailor”
CROSSING AND NAVIGATION PRACTICES ON A LARGE SAILING BOAT: 2 ISLANDS | COLUMBRETES-IBIZA +200MN

Would you like to gain experience and improve your sailing technique? Do you want to increase your confidence and skill as a skipper or captain? Are you preparing to become a professional? Do you need to prove days and miles of sailing? Do you want to experience offshore sailing?

We offer you a program where you will learn to sail with greater safety and efficiency on a high seas crossing of more than 200nm, assuming the role of skipper and crew member in different situations and real wind and sea conditions. Whether you are already a skipper, captain or PPER or would like to become one, this crossing is for you. Come aboard the sailboat! A modern Dufourt 525 Grand Large. A large sailboat, ideal for learning and enjoying with great safety and comfort.

It includes different workshops and real practices to achieve the following learning objectives:

Government and safety on the sailboat (The boat, the skipper and his crew, the steering position, instrumentation, RIPA, POB, EPIRB, abandonment, logbook, positioning on the chart, control and tasks on board...).
Offshore navigation (planning, meteorology, route, management…).
Night navigation (guards, lights, AIS, Radar…).
Sailing (sails, controls, manoeuvres, headings, trimming with crew and alone...).
Anchoring and mooring in port and buoy.

  • Plan
BOARDING: At 6:00 p.m. at the Marina Real in Valencia.
DISEMBARKATION: At 6:00 p.m. at the Marina Real de Valencia.

    FRIDAY: VALENCIA-COLUMBRETES (10 MN)

Welcome and boarding at the Royal Marina of Valencia at 18:00h. The boat is now perfectly stowed and ready to sail, so after settling in, we will get to know the sailboat and have a first WORKSHOP ON GOVERNMENT, SAFETY AND NIGHT NAVIGATION, going into depth on aspects related to government (crew, command post, instrumentation...) and safety (RIPA, POB, EPIRB, abandonment...), especially in night navigation (guards, lights, AIS, Radar...).

Once these objectives have been met, we will have a second WORKSHOP ON HIGH-SEA NAVIGATION, where we will analyse the weather, plan the route and organise the watches and tasks on board. And finally, we will familiarise ourselves in a practical way with the manoeuvring of the boat, under sail (sails, controls, trim...) and under engine (wind, main and bow propeller, releasing mooring lines and deadlines...).

And now that we are well prepared, at around 10:00 p.m. we will set course for the Columbretes Islands (62º), on a first long tack, to experience a night crossing. We will take turns keeping watch, positioning ourselves on the chart and checking the indicators and safety elements every 2 hours.

    SATURDAY: VALENCIA-COLUMBRETES-IBIZA (100 MN)

At around 7:30 a.m. we will practice mooring to one of the buoys on Isla Grossa, the crater of a submerged volcano, since anchoring is prohibited as it is a protected area. After enjoying a good breakfast in this magical place, we will set off at around 10:00 a.m. on a new large tack towards the island of Ibiza (145º).

As night falls we will arrive at the north-west coast of Ibiza, anchoring under the stars in one of its beautiful coves (Benirras, San Miguel, Es Canaret…). There we will rest for a few hours before raising anchor again.

During this voyage we will have the first part of the SAILING WORKSHOP to begin to familiarize ourselves with the maneuver and trim in a practical way.

    SUNDAY: IBIZA-VALENCIA (85 MN)

We will raise anchor at dawn to set sail again towards Valencia (286º), on our third large tack.

We will leave the North of Ibiza in our wake to seek the open waters that will take us to our destination, while we continue with the SAILING WORKSHOP, focusing on obtaining the greatest possible performance from the sailboat during our route.

After more than 200mn of high seas navigation, we will moor at sunset in the Royal Marina of Valencia. Here we will say goodbye to what will surely have been a great shared experience.

*This program may vary depending on the weather or the group's proposal.

Thank you very much Ignacio for the excellent trip to Columbretes. Everything was perfectly organized. In addition to the pleasant company, I had the opportunity to learn a lot, reinforcing what I knew about the PER and starting to gain some practical experience. I would definitely like to participate in other sailboat trips so that I can continue my learning and at the same time be able to enjoy the unparalleled destinations offered by the Mediterranean.
