Advanced firefighting refresher course in Motril

Advanced Certificate in Fire Fighting.
1. Possession of the Advanced Certificate in Fire Fighting will be required for the following personnel:

a) To the Captains and Bridge and Engine Officers of tankers, as well as to the crew members assigned specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo or cargo equipment on tankers.

b) To the Captains and Bridge and Engineering Officers of merchant ships with a gross tonnage greater than 75 GT.

c) To the Captains and Bridge and Engine Officers of fishing vessels greater than 50 meters in length.

2. The Advanced Certificate in Fire Fighting will be obtained after successfully completing the course whose content is set out in Annex I and must meet the competency standards of Section A-VI/3 of the Training Code.

3. The duration of the course will not be less than twenty-four hours, of which, at a minimum, they will consist of twelve hours of theoretical content and twelve hours of practical content.

Plan

1.1 Control of fire fighting operations.

Firefighting procedures on board and in port: organization, tactics and command. Use of water to extinguish fires. Effects on stability. Precautions and corrective measures. Communication and coordination during fire fighting operations, Control of fans, including smoke extractors. Control of fuel and electrical systems. Risks of the fire fighting process (dry distillation, chemical reactions, fires in boiler chimneys, etc.).

Fighting fires involving dangerous goods.

Precautions against fire and risks related to the storage and handling of materials. Treatment and control of injured people.

Coordination procedures with firefighting operations carried out from the ground.
1.2 Organization of fire fighting.

Preparation of contingency plans. Training and assignment of personnel to firefighting crews. Strategies and tactics for fighting fires in the different parts of the ship.
1.3 Inspection and maintenance of fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment.

Fire detection systems. Fixed fire detection systems. Portable and mobile firefighting equipment. Fire pumps. Rescue, rescue and individual protection equipment.

Regulatory Survey and Classification Requirements
1.4 Investigation and compilation of reports on incidents in which they occur.
