Take the Port Skipper course in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and obtain the professional, official certificate and approved by the Merchant Marine.

This course lasts 150 hours (110 theoretical and 40 practical) and trains the student in the knowledge necessary to exercise command of merchant ships with the attributions that have been granted.

It is aimed at anyone who wishes to exercise command in civil vessels of gross tonnage not exceeding 100 GT that carry out navigations that do not go more than 3 miles from the port and that transport a maximum of 150 passengers. He will be able to simultaneously exercise the functions of skipper and chief engineer, as long as the ship has the appropriate automation and the power does not exceed 375 KW in a single engine or twice that in two or more engines.

Remember that, to perform the functions described, you will need to be in possession of four additional certificates:

Basic Training in Maritime Safety
Passenger ships
GMDSS Restricted Radio Operator
Initial Specific Health Training
