Who's is joining?
Are you interested in active sailing? 70% book this trip individually. You will join the team of 3 to 7 fellow crew members at your own sailing competence level and specific tasks on board. These tasks may change as a result of your rising experience and competency level, as you will get more challenging and rewarding duties. Do you have already a lot of sailing experience? Then you can fully apply it in duties such as route planning, navigation, and sail trim. If you have less experience, we will familiarise and assist to improve your sailing skills during your shifts, and you will start to enjoy and appreciate life on board a fast and comfortable sailing yacht crossing the ocean. We will learn how to steer like a pro in the ocean swell and how to trim the sails for maximum speed and comfort. Some see this trip as a mile builder or to practice with the Ocean & Astronavigation. Together we go on an adventure and make it an unforgettable journey.

We make the program ourselves based on your wishes. This trip actually has the best of both worlds. The first part of our trip is island hopping to the British Virgin Islands. The second part is the crossing to the Azores. Then time permitting, we will also arrive at two more islands of the Azores (Flores and Faial) before reaching our final destination Terceira. We gather on board in St Maarten. The first day may start with a dip in the sea, a quick rinse under the outdoor shower and delicious fresh fruit for breakfast. We then look at the route options, and as soon as the ship and crew are ready to sail we will depart. We will make ourselves familiar with the yacht and will refresh our sailing skills during the comfortable crossover to the idyllic British Virgin Islands. There we will look for a quiet bay to drop our anchor for the night and discuss the next steps of our adventure with fine cocktails. The second part of this trip is a long-distance offshore sailing adventure where we cross the ocean to the Azores; a trip of more than 2000 nautical miles. We will follow a 24-hour watch schedule, run our shifts, and intensely enjoy sailing, if not surfing, on the ocean swells.

The WestWind has every opportunity to trim the sails well and go really fast. We will keep track of your miles for the CWO or RYA.
