Adventure offered by Carlos y Aroa

This will be a high altitude crossing in which we will cross from the island of Madeira to the archipelago of the Azores Islands.

This is a maritime adventure that involves sailing on the high seas, far from the coast and in deep waters, sailing more than 500 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean.

A high-altitude sailing trip is an opportunity to grow as a sailor, learn about the ocean and discover the beauty and immensity of the marine world.

On this journey in which you will learn everything you have to take into account when carrying out long-distance navigation and everything that it entails. We will navigate continuously day and night. The crossing can last between 5 and 7 days, depending on the wind we have. We will decide the days to cross based on the weather that the entire crew will study at the time of boarding.

The first day will be the boarding day. Together we will study the weather forecast, study the route and choose the best time to sail.

During this experience, sailors face unique challenges and have the opportunity to learn valuable lessons.

High-altitude sailing is a fascinating discipline that requires advanced skills and specific knowledge. These are the essential points that we will take into account and that we will see before and during the journey:

    1. Study of meteorology: learn to interpret weather forecasts and know how to study the navigation conditions of the area where we are going to navigate. Be attentive to signs of changes in wind, clouds, and atmospheric pressure.

    2. Route planning: course and route according to weather conditions.

    3. Technical preparation of the sailboat: check all safety elements and electronic devices, as well as check the sailboat, rigging, etc.

    4. Safety at sea: knowing how to use electronic devices and knowing how to establish communications with other ships and be prepared for emergency situations.

    5. Comfort and provisions: keep in mind that resources on board are limited. Learn to manage resources such as water, food, energy...etc.

    6. Sail handling: learn to adjust the sails according to the wind conditions, and perform maneuvers.

    7. Watches and rest: During a prolonged voyage, the crew is organized into watches to maintain constant vigilance.

    8. Physical and psychological preparation: The crew must be in good physical and mental shape. Long hours at sea require endurance and adaptability.

Boat details

More than a sailboat, this boat is a home for us and our guests. It is cozy and with comfortable spaces.
The sailboat is 13.30 meters long. It has 4 cabins. Two of them with a double bed, one with a double bed and an additional bed, and one with 2 bunk beds.
It has a spacious living room inside, a well-equipped kitchen, and 2 bathrooms with a hot shower.

Its outdoor spaces are perfect to enjoy long days at sea. Relax in the bow hanging from a hammock, or sit in the bathtub looking for a bit of shade at lunchtime.
It is a perfect boat to sail in different conditions, learn and have fun.
